Default FIRST GEAR QUESTION?

Has anyone had problems with the car not wanting to go into first gear or fighting to go into gear ? I have had the problem a few times and was wondering if anyone was experiencing this. I have about 900 miles on the car and was just wondering if this was because of the low miles or not. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Are your revs up when you shift?

No just like from trying to put it into gear from a light or after I come out of a store but never when the car is moving.

I have that problem from time to time. It doesn't seem to sync right, so it helps to put it into third or second, then shift into first gear.

It does that with Reverse sometimes too... Manual suggests to put it in neutral, release the clutch and then try again. Maybe give that a shot? The only times I've had any resistence into first is when I'm actually moving, but I don't try and force it. I might be at like 10-15 mph and just slow down more. no biggie.

I have noticed this problem, as well. You may have also seen it to some extent when shifting into reverse. Normally, first gear and revers are not synchronized, leading to some difficulties in shifting into gear from neutral. As others have suggested, you can try shifting first into another gear, then first (Second would be easiest). Alternatively, you could double clutch. This also eliminates the problem in both first gear and reverse.

I've heard that the tCs have a very short range for 1st gear. One guy was shifting straight into second.

I'll start off in second if I'm still rolling. I don't like first gear very much, it is a very short range. Third gear is my favorite though.

All you have to do is double clutch before you put the car into reverse or 1st....syncs the trany right up. Common deal with manual trannys...it is much less common in automatics.

so i guess this sounds pretty common...I have been shifting to other gears then back to first to get it to go n which I had to do with my old honda civic but I thought with a new car it would be a little different but as long as nothing out of the ordinary is happening I guess there is nothing to worry about..thanks for the replies
