Default shifting into 3rd

does anyone have any problems shifting into third?
when i take offf and normal, shift into 2nd...good, then to third, it is sometimes really hard to get it into third.....almost like the tranny isn't synchronizing right,
anyone that can shed some light on the subject it would be appreciated....

I had a similar issue. I would take it in and have the service department write up a ticket. If they find no problem they'll atleast have a record of it incase you bring it back later.

well just to let everyone know i took it by the dealer, they took it out for a drive, and of course it decided not to do it but, the service mech said a few people have complained about similar tranny problems, but i will have to actually wait for something to break or happen for them to tear it open

Not to sound arrogant, but I've been driving Porsche and
SAAB for years now. My SAAB had 330,000 miles on the
original clutch when it was hit head on and totaled. One of
my Porsches has the engine in the rear, and the shift pattern
is kinda upside down because of it. Reverse is where first
should be, First is where Second should be. It's kinda confusing but I take it all in stride.

I'm pretty sure I can drive stick.

All that said, I'm FLIPPING OUT because once every 1000
shifts or so, I grind into third! And once or twice it's happened
into fourth!

WTF!!

I do recall someone mentioning an issue with the snycros on
our boxes. I'm hoping this will be covered under warranty if
it fails, I really don't feel like replacing a trans because of a
syncro issue on a 108 horse engine!!!!

I have the same problem once ina blue moon. It's probably once every tens days or so. Like yourself, I've been driving cars with manal transmissions for a while. I've driven American, German, and Japanese cars and in my opinion it has to do with the shifter bushings. I think they are cheap and plastic feeling. It's one of my only complaints about my Scion.

There is a guy who is selling a shifter bushing kit on Ebay which is suppose to solve this problem. There is a thread on this forum somewhere about it. It's a $10 kit and I've seriously been thinking about getting it. I'm not sure if it will really fit though. But for $10 it might be worth the risk. You should check it out.

I wouldn't freak about it. Japanese manual transmissions are rock solid. I've never had, or heard, of problems with them on new cars. It's surely your shifter bushings.

my problem is reverse, i put it in reverse and it does slide in all the way, i release the clutch a bit and pit popss in but sometimes it grinds, it really gets to be annoying. and I would agree that 1st to second is poo as well.
