TWM_Performance 02-25-2004, 06:07 PM Hi Everyone,
On behalf of TWM Performance I'd just like to introduce myself and our products. We manufacture short throw shift kits specifically for sport compacts. We believe in working closely with the car community and playing an active role wherever we can so if anyone has any requests, comments or questions feel free to contact me or any of my associated any time, we're all enthusiasts just like you.
Currently we have a short throw shift kit available for the xA and xB (details in the buying and selling forum) but we may be developing some other parts for your platform in the future.
I urge you to visit www.twmperformance.com if you'd like to learn more about our company and I look forward to helping you all out in any way I can.
Thanks,
Karel Wegert

I haven't personally seen the TRD as of yet but my understanding is that it is roughly 1" shorter than stock. Based on this thread http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=309&highlight=trd+short+shifter it looks like ours would be about 2" shorter than the TRD.
The individual who did the final testing for our product installed ours in place of his TRD and reported ours to produce a much more direct, short and precise shift feel.
Thanks,
Karel

JDMxB 02-25-2004, 07:35 PM Thanks for joining--and welcome to ScionLife.
hahajoey 02-25-2004, 07:36 PM when u say shorter.. 2" lower than stock?
does that shorten the throw or just make it lower?
does your short shifter come in a kit like the TRD one?
or is it just the shifter itself?

Our shifter reduces both the height and the throw. We increased the length of the shifter below the pivot ball while reducing the height above it. The adjustment of the pivot point is what creates the 35% reduction in throw.
Currently our shifter does not include a knob however we do offer a stainless steel weighted knob for all Toyota shifters right now.
Thanks,
Karel

Claremont should be stocking them shortly, give them a call (ask for David Draper) and they can get them very quickly.

what is the part number, because their is no listing on the website :? I am seriously thinking about gettin one also :D
TWM_Performance 02-26-2004, 10:08 PM Here's the link: http://www.twmperformance.com/shortshifters/scionshifters.htm
The part number is TE2004SN, it was actually originally engineered for a car that chares the xB platform, the Toyota Echo Hatchback which we have up here in Canada (looks like Yaris/Vitz).
Scionic 02-26-2004, 10:23 PM I see that in the picture that the shifter is by itself but I was wondering if your kit will be including the baseplate that bolts into the car?
peppy 02-26-2004, 10:46 PM isn't it gonna weird having the shifter 3" shorter than stock? i mean the seats in the scion are pretty high, it seems like you would have to reach down pretty far for the shifter
WagenMaster 02-26-2004, 10:51 PM I assume these shifters accomodate the stock/TRD shift knobs, correct?
projxB 02-26-2004, 10:53 PM i want my shifter to be this short .

Our kit includes only the shift lever, the entire baseplate is not necessary as your stock part works perfectly. We include a detailed instruction manual which makes the removal of the stock shifter from the shift assembly completely painless.

We've tried virtually every knob height possible and found that 3" below stock offered the best improvement in shif feel and looks while still keeping your arm in a comfortalbe position.

As lonng as the TRD knob is threaded to fit the stock shifter it will fit ours as well.
i want my shifter to be this short .
Lol, that's pretty short :) If you really wanted that kind of knob height you can always adjust the shifter once you get it. That way you'll have a shorter throw with the height you want.

how would i adjust it to be that short? besides hackin away at it and loosing the thread.
UrbanDrum 02-27-2004, 11:51 PM For the price, wouldn't it be safer to stick to TRD? :?
TheDanger 08-19-2004, 09:15 PM Wonder if anyone has this?
ylosfst 08-19-2004, 09:58 PM I agree the TRD shifter is a little tall, 2 inches shorter would make a huge difference. Much better I think
TheDanger 08-20-2004, 02:23 PM BUMP! Anyone have any info on these?
