Default Who has installed an overhead video screen in their xB?

This is for all you hardcore installers out there...
I am getting an overhead video screen and DVD player this week and am going to do the install myself. I have seen a couple of threads about headliner removal, but couldn't find anything showing pics of the complete installation process. I going to put the player in the space below the HVAC controls behind the door. I know this requires cutting the back out of the compartment. This is the complete system I will be installing.

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

I did my overhead install myself...really not hard. I didn't even drop the headliner out. There is a roof support beam that the dome light is mounted too, and thats where I mounted the screen. I measured where I wanted it, and then traced the mounting bracket on the headliner. Next, I cut a hole in the headliner where i had traced. Its then as easy as mounting the screen to the bracket and running your wires.

I also mounted the dvd player where you are. Not a big deal. Just take the pocket out of the car and play with it until it fits....shouldnt be too hard.

Any questions dont hesitate to pm me.

Thanks AldoRx!! I was wondering if the dome light mounting bracket would hold the screen. Sounds like it has worked out for you. I really appreciate the help!

It isn't really the dome light mounting bracket that holds your screen. Actually, the light doesnt have a mounting bracket. It is screwed right into the roof support.

Your best bet is to take out the dome light and look around...you'll understand much better then.

Thanks for the clarification, bro. I'll drop the light tonight and check it out. I think we're both talking about the same thing. You mean the screen mounting bracket bolts to the same place the factory dome light housing did, right? Since the screen has a built in dome light you just remove the factory dome light and bolt the screen mounting bracket to where the dome light was mounted.

Yea it is a roof support beam. You obviosuly dont want to screw into the roof, but only into the beam.

Nevermind. I went to your site. Very nice install. Lovin' the flush mount monitors. Is that a custom headliner or stock?

Wow Denny, that's some SKILLED work you have there!

I wish I could give up that much hatch space to amps and
such, I'd totally do a setup like yours, but use color mixing
LED for lighting rather then just the white.

KILLER setup all around!
