bB626 05-14-2005, 08:37 PM damn, that sucks. i know how it feel to get rear ended. samn thing happened to me. when i used to drive my Tercel, i was fully stop at the traffic light then about 5 seconds later, some dude in a '89 Camry slam his brakes, tires screech, then BAM!! totaled my poor Tercel. stupid drunk drivers...
bballplayer0968 05-14-2005, 10:21 PM that sux, nice comic strip though
wholeflaffer 05-14-2005, 11:59 PM Cool way to burn off some of that negative energy that lingers with you after an accident. Plus, you got a self-made keepsake of the event.
Nice!
SciFly 05-15-2005, 12:34 AM Beautiful conception and artwork. Wow.
Say, even the way you finished the story is like a poem:
now the only ones attesting
are you,
unharmed
and ocean,
resting
that's such a talent you have. I forget about the crash and focus on your unique abilites
I don't suppose anyone has ever done such an artwork like this before. certainly not about a Scion misadventure.
Well, best to you and keep us updated with repair news. More art always welcome.
zoooom onward, mrchuck
Big_Bird 05-15-2005, 01:51 AM i no exactly how it feels to get ur BSP rear-ended

I consider both of these works in progress and hopefully the more road trips i take the better my comic strip things will get..
SciFly 05-16-2005, 01:02 AM very good concepts and layouts.
I suspect that the darker cars are more subject to rear end accidents. drivers tend to zone out. sometimes they don't -see- a stopped car or -keep a safe following distance in traffic-
IDEA: I've got one of the yellow cars. So I am ahead of the game. that color arrests the eye. So do our brake lights.
ah, but brake lights are -common as cars-
what else could an xB driver do to arrest the eye of the guy behind him?
Why, MOTION.
What I am gonna do now with my rear wiper which is not used nor of value to me as a wiper:
-cut the arm short. attach a six or eight inch dayglo orange round sign that reads simply:
SLOW (in black letters)
I'll figure out a a way to have it actuate by a monetary contact (a pulse contact) to the wiper motor wash function
Do you follow me? That is: Tap the brake or hold the brake pedal and -the flag will wave five times then park in the sidways postion.
"SLOW" as a slogan suggests itself as making some sense. But you see, it's the MOTION that counts. An odd thing moving on the back of a vehicle. The slogan could be anything. It could even be an American flag in rigid sign plastic. Just -something- that really grabs their eye in a way which supplements brake lights.
By having this sort of feature, imo you could expect a further reduction of rear end collision risk.

I read somewhere that silver cars were the least likely to be involved in accidents and then earth tones such as brown and black were the worst yet it also stated that radical colors such as blue green and yellows were almost as bad I think i read the article on edmunds a while ago. I've seen a lot of cars with the blinking 3rd light when the brake pedal is depressed. The wiper idea is nice however when i go on muddy canyon runs my rear window gets really dirty and that wiper comes in handy...

Lonely_Raven 05-16-2005, 01:12 AM I LOVE the comic strip format. What filter did you use to
tweak it like that?
Sorry to hear about your rear ending though...hopefully it's
a minor fix!
mfbenson 05-16-2005, 01:55 AM It depends on the conditions you typically drive in. White is one of the best colors except when there is snow on the ground. Yellow and orange are good except at dusk and dawn when orange and yellow blend in. Black is good during the day and bad at night.
Red and Silver are a good all-around colors but there is also no conditions in which they stand out better than usuall. And on a grey road or in a grey tunnel silver would probably blend in.
One thing about white though - the human eye more easily processes it as a moving object. This creates an optical illusion where people think the car is going slower than it really is because the eye can keep up with it so well. This causes two things: 1) people pull out in front of you because they don't really see how fast you're going.
2) cops don't even give you a second look unless they're using a radar because they don't think you're speeding either.
I would guess that means black get lots of tickets too.
skitsoKID911 05-16-2005, 03:07 AM ah that sucks. insurance should help no?
TJandBOXCARWILLIE 05-16-2005, 07:47 AM Great comic, way to go. And a great way to deal with it all.
Fujiz_xb 05-16-2005, 01:35 PM i love the accident expression..props on that
SolarGrrl 05-16-2005, 04:26 PM I'm sorry about your accident, but that comic is really cool!
Sciond 05-16-2005, 04:33 PM nice comic...bad luck sorry..

i thought of something like this the other day too! haha  except it'll just be one of those warning yellow and black striped stickers. i'd have it say "this car is on recall - rear end collsions can cause explosions on contact. stay back 50 feet" watcha'll think? lol.
