Safety Ratings for XB
side impacts are our greatest worry, I think, I -expect-, but do not -know- anything yet.
and hope never to find out by personal trial
-too bad the xB does not yet offer the option of side air bags. That'd be an option I'd have bought-
I haven't seen any crash test results.
My insurance cost more on this than my last vehicle, but it doesn't make sense.
I got rid of a 2004 F150 ext. cab 4x4 and my insurance went UP when I took it off and added my xB

in favor of an equal or lower rate:
-the xB has no reputation yet as a theft-prone vehicle and probably never will.
-the xB is not fast nor heavy nor more likely to become in an accident
-it's not as expensive as your former truck probably was when new.
was your old vehicle old, depreciated in $$ value? Is your present level of collision coverage higher? that'd count for -a few bucks- there.
details make it possible to figure out wtf they are doing to you. give more details or don't make us wonder why. ask quetions of the agent then please report back.
it's your money and you need to be in control of how and where it goes. simple as that.
it has been tested in japan, and discussed here:

The whole red car thing is a myth, at least it is with State Farm (i've asked). I currently pay $408 every six months on my 1998 Prelude SH. My insurance will drop to $328.58 on a 2005 xB.
Just for the record, I'm 26, married, with a multicar, multiline policy.

i'm also a statefarm user and my insurance dropped when i switched from my alero to my xB. if anyone's insurance went up, you should vehemently question your agent.
as far as testing, i'm sure the car is safe or else the government wouldn't have allowed it to be released, but we all know are governments idea of safe doesn't meet our expectations.
i want to see the insurance institute for highway safety get there hands on a few of each scion model and test them.
