When I first got my tC I noticed that sometimes when I have the gas pedal about halfway down I hear what sounds like an air leak. I don't what it is, but thats all I can think of based on the sound. It used to only happen in first gear. I used to think it was pretty cool cause it sounded like I had turbo when I didn't . Then about 3 weeks ago I installed a K&N cold air intake and the noise is louder and happens on 1st, 2nd, and somtimes 3rd gear.

I went through and checked anywhere there could be an air leak and double checked everywhere for tightness. Yet it still makes the noise. Before I take it to the dealership I just want to know if it happens to anyone else? If so, how do you fix it?

 

it's the uh. intake sucking air in.


that's why the hi-flow filter made it louder--it's sucking in more air!!

it does it on mine too. and it's bug'n the crap out of me.

 

I dont think its air being sucked in, its way more high pitched than that. It doesnt sound normal. and it stops once i press down on the gas a little more.

 

yea bro.... that's the intake sound... i don't know why it's so loud on our cars, but it is. I kind of like it. sit in any other car with an intake and you'll probably hear the same sound

 

Hate to break it to you man, but thats the sound all our cars make. It's totally nromal. The general concensious is that it's the intake sucking air in. Don't worry about it. Let it strike fear into some ricers hearts if they mistake it for a turbo, that's their fault. Lol.

 

I love that sound!! my buddy has a Roush Mustang and i was driving next to him the other day and he said when we took off at a light he could hear the intake over over his exhaust....which is loud. I couldnt hear it at all because he has side exhaust.

 

the TRD exhaust with the K&N intake is the best sound in the world

 

oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. annoying as shiz though
