I just ordered a Volant Air Intake for my XB and just wanted to know if anyone out there has had any experience with it. I have heard quite a bit of good things of this company.

waste of money, these are imports, not trucks, injen short ram all the way, waste of money. That volant intake is very very similar to the stock, and you can actually make the stock intake perform better than the volant one.

Well, I hope someone gets this intake and finds out if it is any good. The concept is good and it may work better than the tube style. Most of the intakes have shown disappointing results in my opinion. Also some people may not want the louder noise from a short ram. I'm leaning towards a drop in TRD or K&n filter when mine gets dirty.

Cursedpumpkin, Did you get the extra scoop with your intake?

i just thought since you dont have to take the whole thing apart to clean up the air filter, the volant is a good idea. It does work similar to the stock intake, but you can buy the down tube that goes behind the foglight assembly. I bought it and i'll put it on and tell you guys how it works out. The injen short ram intake is not a cold air intake and niether really if you think about it is the cold air aem or cold air injen. The aluminum is picking up the heat from the engine and transfering it into the intake manifold.

I didnt get the extra scoop just yet since im hesitant on taking out the fog light cover. I'll see how it works first and then i will decide on getting it or not. I dont have fog lights on my xb, but i dont want the front end of my xb looking like its going to wink at me all the time. When i get it in the mail i will probably do a installation tech on it i think.

I have he Volant Intake and I like it. The only thing I don't like about it is that it isn't as loud as the Injen. I personally like the sound. But overall I am happy with it. I have the two scoops that go along with it. One off to the side and one that goes behind the fog light. If you are interested in the intake check the link in my sig.

In the pictures you have a injen cold air intake. What made you take that one off? I already now purchased a injen becuase of the Volant sitting up high enough to block the way of the strut bar. I did want the Volant more than the injen though because of the easy access to the filter.

IMO, I'd just get the drop-in filter before replacing the stock airbox with something practically the same for quite a few $$. It looks awful as far as show goes. How often do you have to access the filter? Not often enough, IMO.

The CAIs are Cold Air Intakes. it refers to where it draws air in, not whether the air is a certain temp. And you do realize that plastic soaks up heat too, right?

all about the injen short ram and aem l pipe. even though theyre short ram they pull air from outside of the engine compartment so cold air. on these cars the terms cold air and short ram are used loosely and some intakes like the weapon r , aem l pipe , k&n , injen short ram can be considered either a short ram or cold air. theyre all short piping yet all pull cold air from outside the engine compartment. hmmm......

The Volant intake I use on my Focus works pretty good. The parts are very durable being made out of thick plastic. The inside surfaces of the "air box" have been polished to smooth out the airflow some. Overall construction and fitment was excellent.

Peformance wise (remember this is on my Focus) was good. Smoothed out the throttle responses, definately made the "get-up-and-go" much better when pressing the go pedal to the floor. The sound is fantastic!. Gives a deep grunt under heavy loads and with the radio turned off you can hear the intake sucking in air. It has soft "whistle" sound like a turbo under acceleration.

The only downfall is that yes, they are expensive. But for the price, the quality and ease of installation was excellent. And it gave some great results on the Focus 2.0L engine.

I just don't like it! it's too ugly, Why take out one big ugly plastic box and replace it with another?

Someone should try painting or chroming it, might make it fit in better...

i like the volant intake except for the fact you need to remove the strut bar

Thats what i thought might happen if i would opt to get the volant. I went with the Injen Cold air intake instead because of that very reason with the strut bar. I do like the volant air intake though and i think it would have probably worked a little better than the injen. Im not after Hp or anything, more after MPG. If i would have wanted something fast i would have not bought a xb.

Takes up more of the engine bay then the engine.
