do they use synthetic oil or regular dino? i am considering not using my free changes if they use regular. how is their stock oil filters?

this is my first import car so bear with me, i've owned 4 domestics in the past :)

For a free oil change I can guaratee it's dino, not synthetic. You probably could pay the extra to have them put in synthetic, I'm sure they'd LOVE to make the extra money they charge for non-dino.

They'll use dino oil. I'm hoping that the dealership will stick to the recommended 5W30 (as per manual) weight instead of the 10W30 weights that dealerships keep a huge stock off. The synthetic available at the dealership (at least by where I live) use the Castrol Syntec, which is not true synthetic (a little of syn mix with Dino from The Flintstones) like Mobil 1.

They use conventional oil that each dealer buys in bulk from the jobber. In my case, it is Mobil.

They have used 5W30 (or at least written that on the paperwork) for the two free oil changes I have had.

You want to use regular oil for the first few thousand miles anyway. At about the 10K mark I will switch to full synthetic. The exact timing of this is a religious argument.

well said, I wouldn't have a problem using the freebies up as long as I could watch the whole thing.
