can't you just get the headunit instead of replacing the whole car?

www.crutchfield.com

you'll be losing THOUSANDS on your trade. Go pick out the nicest $2k radio and you'll be much much happier.

Don't buy a car for the radio inside it. The headunit is the same size as the 05 version, a Toyota double din unit. Purchase the new headunit from your local dealer, online at some place like McGeorge, or on EBay. Install it yourself or pay someone to do it for you. About the only feature you'd loose out on is the auxiliary input that is in the glove compartment (I think). You would still have you iPod functionality and would not have to trade in your entire car just for a headunit, lol. You kids these days. ^^

Just a little FYI, the value of your car plummets as soon as it leaves the dealer's lot into your hands. Unless you had a huge down payment, the amount you owe and the value of the car (referred to as the Gap by some) don’t catch up for at least a year a so(it varies from situation to situation).

Never trade....you'll get smoked. Always sell in a private sale.

Expect to lose about $3,000 or more versus what you paid for the car itself...plus whatever you put into the car after buying it, if you don't take that stuff off and sell it privately.

Dont trade yours in just for that! Doing that its not worth, kinda stupid! You'll lose much more money and effort than just getting an aftermartket head unit + ipod hook up!

yeah dude are you retarded? sell your car for a OEM headunit? go to a dealer and buy one, or spend the money that your going to lose on your trade on a indash tv setup, dvd, navigation that will accept all inputs and be done with it. ____ you can get a cdplayer with AUX in on ebay for like 75 bucks.

if you trade in your tc and you have scion accessories on it, like the blue light kit and the 6 disc changer and so on, is the dealer supposed to factor that stuff into the trade in price that they will give you, or do the accessories not count and everyone gets the same trade in price with mileage being the only differentiating factor?

Dude, trust me.. after the 06 comes out there will be some people that is still not satisfied with their stock cd player and get a custom one. You should be able to buy the stock cd player from him for $100. I bet it will be an easy installation.

Default Trade In

Yeah my buddy traded his 05 tc in about 3 weeks ago, they gave him 14k for it...I stopped in there last week for service on mine, and they had it stickered for 20k. Guess that pure pricing and preowned don't mix.

I asked a similar question for different reasons.

It looks like the value is holding well and these guys saying "10k" are out of their mind.

In my thread, a dealer posted saying that at wholesale auctions, tC's are going for almost MSRP, so I bet, as long as you took car of the car, you should be ok, out say 1-2k at most.

Edit: yes the steering wheel controls are one of the only reasons I would go for an 06.
