I might post this in the wrong forum but ..

Anyway does anyone here had experience with one ?

My friend said its easy to install, and its probably one of the most "efficient" thing that money can buy.

Hes too busy and told me to look around for one.

I've been searching for online sites and I really cant seems to find one ...

I need to get all these stuff prepared before my xA come ...

Any input will be appericated ! Thx !

are you looking for a switch to shut off the fuel?

Yeah, the ones that have keys or something that I must turn it on before I start my engine.

i imagine if you get a wiring diagram and wire a switch in the car it can be done. are you looking for an anti theft thing? how would you install the button/switch?

Anti Theft Thing.

if you mean for performance, i don't think you need fuel-cutoff defencer (FCD) system
i think most of toyota motors will not cut fuel off until you reach 1bar (about 15psi) of boost
just my opinion :nails:

yeah i would do what i said. thats the best thing i guess. ask some of the hot rod guys how they would wire it. id wire it to the fuel pump and go from there

you can install a switch between the ignition power system easiest place is the fuse box then install the switch wherever youd like so then the car wont run unless you switch it on even with the key yet the rest of your accessorys with get power

if its for anti-theft purposes... a relay and a Seatbelt switch (for the switch) works quite well... think about it..how many people are gonna strap themselves in before they attempt to steel your car.... you can take the relay pin 85 and 86 can be positive or ground doesn't matter which just depends on the switch. if the seatbelt throws a ground than you want to wire the other side of the relay to 12v. pin 30 is your common so anything you put into it comes out normally 87a unless power and ground are thrown to 86 and 85 then input side of 30 is diverted to pin 87 as an output... or vice/versa...

FMM, that does create a PITA situation, though, for anyone wanting to have their engine running while stepping out of the car (or even unbelting to reach something just out of reach). :)

A hidden aux switch just might be better - and doing it with a momentary contact switch that energizes a self-holding relay wired from the ignition 'accessory' power will take care of forgetting to turn the hidden switch off when shutting down - it will automatically open the circuit and need the hidden momentary switch to be hit again to restart...

Good, simple, reliable antitheft 'trick.' Make the 'hidden' switch non-obvious but easy and convienient to get to - best example of that is hidden from view but in reach - like under edge of dash...

Starting would require turning ignition on, pressing hidden button, then starting vehicle.

the switch from the seatbelt only bridges the gap during start only not all the time.... no pain the ___ at all. once its started it stays started.

The start wire on almost every car exception being some chevrolets with a smart start feature or the Ions. goes dead to ground once the car is started. its ony 12 volts while under cranking. Problem solved > PITA

Can you hook up a speaker? or maybe an amplifier? If you can do any of those you can follow my diagram and be that much farther ahead of the game. Don't put yourself in the negative mind.

On my integra I just ran a wire spliced from the fuel pump incoming 12v through an inline toggle switch in an ashtray in the back, some of my stuff got jacked, but the car was still there in the AM. Don't just have the switch as the end all solution, remember MULTIPLE LAYERS of protection. The more of a PIA it is to get around those layers the more chance of your car still being there in the AM. Note: a separate power source, like a secondary battery, is good for an alarm in case they get under the hood and disable the main battery.

Good Luck

well theres another way... and good point.

To put it all in a nutshell, there are many options.. the one i described is a bit more labor intensive and also a bit more Sophisticated. The switch to the fuel pump also works well and is by far prolly the simplest of ways for theft deterent. But like he said many hoops to jump will decrease the chance of amatuer theft... However let me point out if you will. A kill switch, an alarm, a Dog in the back seat, an armed guard or even a garage kept car with a shotgun next your bed will not keep someone from getting your car if they want it more than you ! All those things do is...KEEP THE HONEST MAN HONEST!!!

If they want your car..they'll tow it, drag it, hell they even watch your day to day operations just to meet you at the local coffeshop you stop at every day at 7:58 a.m. and warm up the car before they take it. During Nov/Oct theres a HUge ttrade show called the Consumer Electronic Show... or CES. however... most of those guys you see being sent there do the minimum requirements at thier posts or making the rounds of product demo's, why you ask..... Cause on the other side of town is the 2nd largest gathering of indvidules at the Adult porn industry show. So while your favorite installers oggling T&A and picking out a Vibrator for his girlfriend when he gets home... All the theives are at the convention for electronics so thy can have a chance to see whats new in tech. whats new to come out. and whats going to be worth top dollar. and those are the people your competing with ladies and gentlemen.... Not the Amatuers. Amatuers steel headunits and boxs with amps because your buddies told everyone what you got and they want it more than you do. and they Know you'll get another one to replace that. Just like a store front. only its Midnight car Audio.

Look do yourself a favor and anyone else reading on. Find a trust worthy shop that deals with upperend alarm installs... NOT remote starts 18 times a day you want a serious Alarm install. tell them your concerns make sure they make all the doors trigger the alarm. trunk and hoods as well. you want a Shock sensor, maybe a motion sensor for the interior or a dual zone if your of the paranoid type that has to park outin the middle of nowwhere or Right up front next the window at the resturant. You also would like more than one kill. so you can do an Ignition Kill, a starter kill, maybe even a Fuel pump kill although there may be some legalities to a shop for that. also light flash, which some shops charge xtra for that even tho every... EVERY alarm but the 99.00 cop in a box comes with. its just a matter of hookin up a wire, very seldom a whole relay thingand what not. also a battery backup siren along with the positive of the Siren that comes with having a fuse on the power wire. that way if a thief(s) cuts the wire you don't short out the main unit. more than one siren doesn't hurt 2 + a battery backup would be nice. MT them in place where thier hard to access and bury the wires away from where there easily accessible.

again 150.00 alarm with options vs 1500.00 alarm is only good as the installation. if you get an installer who slaps the module right in the kickpanel and almost visible you DON"T WANT THAT GUY ! ask to see some of their work... if their good and modest they will have no problem showing you some of thier work... I happen to push the Clifford Alrms whom Way before DEI robbed them of many Patents and Ideas were sold to Onst*r and the like. in my eyes there worth every penny any shop charges for them. I hope you seriously find the comfort zone your looking for.

Nice information :)

Im not even sure if I can get my RS 2.0 xA cuz its hard to find in the Northeast (NYC) that has a "stick" (manual)

Im trying to find information that you guys have mentioned (like 2nd battery, etc)

and yes, I can hook up a speaker/ampliflier, Actually I was the one who ran all the wires in my house >_< (no I dont have eletrical license, but I know what am I doing)

Well, I was thinking of getting the stock alarm and install it myself (cuz it cost 500 at dealer, and only like 300 if you diy)

Should I go for other ones ? and if yes which "Brand/Model" is good

Stuff like Lo-Jack might be a little overkill for "this" kind of car but ... hmm :O I am thinking about it now ...

Lo jack is overrated junk.... and i'll say it to anyone who got ripped off into thinking its the best thing they ever invested in. First off LoJack works when YOU know the car was stolen... If they Tow the car away or actually get the car itself. if you to the mall and your there for 2 hrs and your car was taken 45 min ago... chances are you don't want your car back. I'll have to find it on the net here but a crew of 4 guys and a seperate driver for the van pulled up to a 97 Corvette. The stripped the car of all of its most favorable parts Including full doors hood and leather interior pc's. and proceeded to leave the scene in just under 6 min. better than there time yrs ago on 86 vette, which was just over 8 min. I had a customer once who lost a Mustang with a bunch of custom Audio we did and alot of money stuffed into wheels and motor parts. they found his "LoJack" equipped car 43 min after the theft. Wanna know what they found? A bare chassis one pass. side Quarter panel and low and behold the little lonely Orange LoJack box......

its a good idea but not worth the money. DEI, Directed Electronics is the most largest company that owns nearly any alarm named after a snake or Bug. they also own Clifford electronics. you can use this link to get you where you need to find out mmore product info....

http://directechs.com/

And as far as your Man. 2.0 xA worse case scenario pick a good weekend cut thru Canada get here to Michigan and Have one of the sales guys at Suburban Scion or La fontaine get you taken care of. then stop by and see us for a bit.

The stock alarm isn't all that either. It has no Shock, doesn't tap into the hood or the trunk for that matter that i know of and theres most likely either one or NO extra outputs for additional features. Get either a Clifford, A Python ,Viper system.... stay away from setups with little screens for key chains, they say all the bugs are worked out but there not and if you have to replace the key fab its at least $125.00 which is not worth a little picture telling you what you just did. Stay away from Pager systems as well. Good theives don't work alone, they work in 2's or 3's and if their gonna hit your car most likely the'll set you up and wait for you to come out and do something about it. remember you pay insurance thats what its for. Make sure you know what your insurance agent is telling you and if you don't ask them to explain it otherwise they won't bother and you'll be the one left holding the empty bag. Get rider policys on your Audio, Wheels, and performance upgrades... you may not want to tell them how much faster it is but you get the idea...

Hope this helps

Thats alot of info !

I have a feeling that LoJack is overrated. Since one of my friend's civic, was stolen and hmm they found it an hour later, yeah just like your "client?"'s Mustang, Only the body left and pretty much nothing else but the Lo Jack box. I guess the theif was laughing when they saw the LoJack thing.

Hmm Where do you located ? Forget it if its in Cali :) but if its just 4-5 states away from NYC I think Im fine with that :)

lojack has a optional accesory where if your car is moved without your permission lo-jack will personally call you within minutes to verify that your car is moving without you being in it. The accesory is a lil transmitter on your keychain i believe that tells jo-jack everything is ok when you drive the car with the tranmitter in your keychain..

some crap like that the shop was telling me when i was installing jo-jack on my TC

if i am correct you are talking about a kill switch. If that is the case, take it to your local alarm install place, and ask about an alarm that has one. My alarm came with a kill switch, they installed it all for $100. Now i got a lil button where my pedals are, if i press it, the car wont start. If the alarm is activated, and you try to start the car, it will not. works for me.
