Mine were in the glovebox. I think they go in the spare tire well. I had the dealer install mine when I went in for my first freebie oil change.

they go into 2 holes in the unibody, look underneath the car near the rear doors on either side, and you'll see a spot.

I had those and that little cover for the button by the auto transmission shifter. I bought the first xB there so they didnt know where they went but after a little searching they go into the underbody to keep dirt and some other crud out.

That was my understanding of it.

yes, I found mine, too, in the glove box. Why the distributor did not install them is an open question. This car came through Southeast Toyota. The "QC" checklist has a box to be marked when "body plugs (are) installed". That box is -not- checked off. The form is a zerox-- it only looks like it's filled out by hand. Quite deliberately, then, the distributor does NOT install the body plugs.

but why???? I have not installed them. If I drive into a lake I suppose the car sinks faster? And when they haul it, and me out, the car-casses drain out better without the plugs?

So now i don't know which devil to adopt: plugs, or no plugs??

I think there was a post about this a long time ago but if they are the same plugs that were talked about before they go under the car on the sides right below the side skirts right next to the jack points which will be right next to all four wheels but on the side of the wheel closer to the inside. There are holes in the chassis for lifting purposes (off the ship it came on) or something like that and when your car is delivered theyre suppose to install them so i guess no water gets in there or something. Hope that helps

What he said...My 2004 came without the plugs at all, installed or uninstalled. Had my dealer order and then install them. They are to keep dirt, salt, etc out of the body cavity.
