Default RS 2.0 Turn Signal Side Mirrors

Need some help here. Was wondering if anyone knows if the '05 xB's are pre-wired to accept the side mirrors with the turn signals in them. I want some for my Box soooooo badly that I want to purchase some from the dealership and install them. I LOVE the way they look on the RS 2.0s...

Hey Metro I am not sure if the 05's are prewired for those mirrors or not but I do believe that I have seen them on www.scionsport.com and If I remember correct they were somewhere in the $250 to 300.00 range. I'm haviing trouble accessing that site right now but I will look tomorrow when I get to work and see if I can find them for you on there.

$235? for COVERS... thanks.. I'll pass.. and that's coming from a guy who spent something like $400 or $500 to install the first pair of folding mirrors.

kind high when the mirrors are at risk of being 'free' if you go to the dealer after hours with wire snips and a T20 (or 25 maybe) driver and take the 3 bolts out from the underside of the mirror.

Default mirrors

As far as i know the xbs are not prewired i talked to a guy at carson scion and he says you have to wire them in. I was going to buy those from japan till i saw them on a 2.0 Don't like them now. If you want to see what i did i can send you pics i think they look cleaner and were cheaper by far 20 bucks and my labor to wire them.

Those would be cool if you shaved the fender signal.

You just need to tap into the fender signal wiring. it's pretty easy.

Make sure you see a set from the mirror side before you buy them - double lip around the housing...

Mine were $30 and a little DIY...

The xB RS.2 turn signal covers are actually a Scion OEM option that I guess prolly never made it to the dealers. They actually come in the stock colors and are painted in RS.2 yellow at the port where they are fitted. Don't ask me how I know.

From what I've heard. you should be able to order it already in the BCP and ready to install FIRESQUARE. It's a 'stock' special order item.

Just letting you all know that the RS 2.0 signal mirror covers are held on by double-stick tape. I just took one of my covers off.

Really? Now that sucks! That's OK, I work at a dealership and I know how to make it harder to remove them... P.S. Why did you remove your signal covers in the 1st place?

While I do like the mirror signals, the covers are little "chunky" for my taste. I wanted to get another pair of used complete non-RS 2.0 mirror assemblies to experiment with (something similar to what TheScionicMan did),but had no luck finding them at a reasonable price. Squirrel told me in a PM that the covers are probably only double-sticked on,so I bit the bullet and decided to try removing one.

The covers are not that easy to remove. It was humid and in the 90s yesterday and I used a tape-wrapped butterknife to peel away the tape between the mirrors and covers. I was still able to refasten the cover this morning without any additional tape. If someone were to walk up and try pulling a mirror cover off without loosening up the tape, they'll probably rip the whole mirror off.
