I believe the factory speakers in the XB are rivited into the door. So if you wanna take them out your gonna have to drill out the rivets and replace them either with screws or more rivets. the door panel is two screws on the front by the hinge and then just a yank. Good luck!!

These were the easiest door panels to remove. In addition to the above, you will have to remove the wiring harness from the door switches before you can completely remove the panel.

It will take you about an hour or so for each door to change the speakers, or longer if you are making your own adapters. I used Scosche SAT6 adapters for the door speakers with Pioneer Premier 6.5" 4-way speakers. Next on my list is the same speakers in the rear and a Pioneer Premier 60x4 amp. I'm gonna make my own adapters for the rear but Scosche has them for 6.5" speakers in the stock rear location. I'm making my own so I have enough clearance behind the side panel for the tweeters.

Good luck and have fun!!!!

Use a drill bit that is larger than the rivet to be drilled out. Center the bit on the rivet and crank up the drill... try to keep the drill exactly horizontal to the rivet. Soon, the rivet should break loose and the head of it will "spin" on the drill bit. Move on to the next rivet.

When you're done, you can pluck out all the bits and pieces of the old rivets. You're not shooting for drilling new holes in the door, just drilling out the rivet heads.
