They are all great oils but you can get the best deal on Mobile 1.

I am going to run Redline gear oil, powersteering fluid, Water Wetter and motor oil as I have in other projects, I could use another oil for less money but I prefer to just stay with one great brand.

Mobile1. I'm not a fan of Amsoil due to the way they limit their distribution, which basically just makes it easier for them to charge ridiculous prices. Mobile1 is a good quality synthetic IMO for a decent price.

Amsoil, 100%. The change interval more than offets the initial cost of the product. And I've always put it this way: imagine that the oil is the engine's blood. Which blood do you want, the "good" stuff, the "okay" stuff, or the "cheap" stuff?

Amsoil 5w30 in my last car, 12k miles on one change. 3.5q in, 3.5q out.

If I were building a race car I would use Redline... that said, I use Mobil 1 Synthetic. All new Corvettes come from the factory with Mobil 1 Synthetic. I repect anyone for using a quality motor oil. But just IMO, I would not buy into the "longest" change period. Most of it is just a gimic... yes you could drive with your feet on the stearing wheel, but that don't make it a good idea... Not saying that Mobil 1 is that much better, it is mass produced bring prices down, and it's just easier to find almost anywhere for $20... a great quaity synthetic oil.

Once I am at 5000k on my tC, I will be using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic and replace every 5k after that. (keep all your oil change receipts, it helps when selling your car. I know you would want to know right?)

If you do a search on here, someone posted a great article by Redline on how oil breaks down, and all the differences.

i use only RP in my RSX. first i had used M1, then changed and i got better gas mpg and felt a bit more gains. i got a couple of HP's when i changed my oil when i was dynoing. (friend has shop). but the HP goes away after a few thousand miles.

use RP if u have the money, M1 is the next best thing. i use it in all my other cars. i'm gona start using a mix of 1/2 RP and 1/3 M1 on the tC and RSX from now on to save money.

for filter, i always use M1's filter.

I really hope this doesnt turn into a big argument... but....

You are not going to notice 1 or 2 HP.

Saying that you saw a couple more HP on a dyno does not mean it is due to oil (which it is most likely NOT). Dyno measurements vary from pull to pull and are dependent on many other variables.

I just switched to Mobile 1 on my box.

My SAAB 900 Turbo had 330,000 miles on original motor
and turbo using Mobile 1 the whole time before it was hit
and totaled.

I'm also trying out a bunch of different filters, but the STP
and Mobil 1 look to be the best so far.

engifineer, i know dyno's vary every pull. when i said i noticed a difference, i meant a 6whp difference. and that's a pretty good difference if u ask me. dyno pulls vary differently by only a couple of horses, but not 6. thats y i even bothered to mention. but as the oil ages, it behaves normally like any other synthetic. within 1k miles, that "add" power would be gone. my guess is its the additives in RP wearing off.

sorry if I dont believe you on that one... there is NO way you will see 6 whp between synthetics... or even between synthetic and conventional...

Dont worry i fely the same thing when i first put in RP, the car does feel like gets a kick, but after the 1k mile range it feels just like synthetic oil so i may change to Mobil 1, but i like RP but either way i cant go worng they are both great oils oil filter wise i use frams tough guard x2 for that extended oil change service, or just the regular fram tough guard, Mobil 1 filters to me just feel to be heavy, but i never experienced one beofore so i may try one
