Default Unkown square in dash

Hey everyone! I am in the process of installing my Sirius PNP tuner and am looking for ways to bring the wires up to the unit without having them wrap in front of the glove box. I want to put in on the shelf in front of the passenger front seat where that cup thing is. I have noticed there is a square in the dash that might be a removable panel. Does anyone know what it is for or what it accesses? :? I don't want to remove it without knowing first. I would hate for it to be something to do with the airbag system. :nervous: I was thinking that if it was superfluous, I would remove it and bring the wires up through the opening or remove it and drill a hole in it to feed the wires through. That way it would be right there where they connect to the unit. My other option if this is access for the airbag is to drill a hole in the bottom of the cup thing and bring the wires up from there. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There's nothing behind it. I think its just to access the area behind the dash.

Squirrel, be careful he's not describing the airbag. The airbag is on top of the dash, a large rectangular panel facing up towards the windshield. I believe it has an SRS logo or some other identifying mark along the front edge or corner of the panel.

that little square is the access to remove the airbag.

I'm talking about the small square, on the wall of the space between the glove box and the airbag, where the rectangulkar holder is at. The airbag cover has SRS embossed in the corner, on top of the dash.

As HotBox said, it is an access panel to a nut that must be removed to remove the dash AND the airbag control system. However, the cover can be pryed out and I would guess that a wire could be routed through without affecting the airbag operation.

Yep! That little square is simply the access to the airbag mounting bolt. Running a wire through there shouldn't effect the air bag at all.
