i dont know why someone would pay ~800 more for AT and then go and pay hundreds more for a shift kit to drive it like a MT.

are you talking about something like a transgo? auto trannies can have shift kits installed that change the shift points. add a stronger t-convertor and you can get some good launches.
but I seriously doubt anyone would invest that amount of R&D into these cars.

ur best bet is to contact a performance transmission machine shop if you're seriously looking. I can give you a number to a top notch shop here in NC.

yeah best bet would be custom work from a nice shop. unfortunately most if not all scions that will be worth any transmission work ( speed wise , powerwise ) will be manuals. so....

not really for performance well just a touch more for more of the life of the tranny and clutch pack in the tranny or even a valve body

How's that left leg feel after being stuck in rush hour traffic for an hour or two? I like manuals too but there are those times when I wish my car had an auto.

that's why in bumper to bumper traffic, if traffic moves several feet, i say screw it and just sit there until moving is even worth the effort

that's why some drag car racers are girls... and i dont think that an auto shift kit would help make an xb any faster.

For the record, I have nothing against auto's. . . they are great. But I hope you know that that classic argument is totally lame. A drag racing tranny is extremely different from your run of the mill auto. It would take quite a bit of money to even come close! Stock for stock, manuals always beat autos, although autos provide more consistent performance (due to less driver error).

Just because stephen hawking is the smartest man on the planet, doesn't mean I should turn myself into a cripple (no offense to the handicap), as it would not increase my IQ.

I'm lost on the crisper shifting thing. You want faster shifts? Smoother shifts? It's kinda hard to get both.
