Does anyone know of a site with a visual explanation of offset and rim size?

When I pick up my new rims I'm trying to make sure they're flush with the side of the car after the suspension is on. The stock 17 inch wheels use a 45 mm offset. I think they're 7.5" wide? (am i correct??)

I want to get 20mm farther to the outside of the car. I'm guessing a 8" wide rim with (0.5" farther out.. 12.7 mm) with 35 mm offset would be 22.7 mm.. Is this right? or am I backwards?

thanks in advance to anyone with some knowledge :)

8"with 35mm offset it perfect, as flush as you can get without having to roll the fenders, etc, which you probably do not want to do.

I have 17x8's with 35mm, 235/40/17 Hankook R-S2's and it looks great lowered:)

The same thing will apply with 18x8, 19x8, etc, as long as you do not try to use to wide a tire, 235 is the max I would even condsider on an 8" wide wheel.
