Hey everyone, I was trying to decide which brand of exhaust to put on my 05 xB.
What do my fellow xB owners reccomend???

Thanks!

I like my magnaflow axleback from www.precisionmuffler.com

The oval muffler they use for the auto model looks good and sounds good, IMO. Doesn't drone at freeway speeds like a lot of the canister type mufflers do. And the price is nice too.

^^^ my Gen. 2 manual axleback from www.precisionmuffler.com should be here by thursday. ive heard soundclips of it and it sounds great, plus it looks awesome. $290 shipped isnt bad either so you may want to considre that.

the DC sports on my RS2 sounds perfect. So i'd just have to suggest that. The only other exhaust i've owned was a tanabe SRM on my turbocharged 02 civic, but it had a *tuners tone* meaning it let you know it wasn't a slow car, which wouldn't go well with the box IMO

I would go w/ either Strup, Injen or Magnaflow.

The cheapest route is Magnaflow. Their Street Series ovals can be had for a good price online and installed at a shop that provides the piping for around $200 total. Performance Peddler has some good prices on Magnaflow.

I have a custom Magnaflow exhaust on my xB thanks to Michael's Mufflers, and will go w/ Strup or Injen on the xA.

I drove a RS2.0 and I did like the DC tunable. I went with the Borla pipe cause I've always wanted their product. It is a low note and about the same loudness as the DC, no tuner farting/raspiness. I think it has the best looking tip and will probably outlast the car. My first two tanks of gas with the stock muffler returned mpgs of 34.7 and 35.6 while the latest tank with the Borla let out 39.7! I'm sure there are other factors but one of the biggest advantages is the exhaust is nicer to listen to at highway speeds than the buzzy engine. They have good pics of it at Borla's website, it was $300 shipped from Cali, and I put it on myself in about 25 minutes.

i really like the DC sports mine came with. can't complain as it came stock. has a nice low note and pops when i downshift. i mean seriously, i think i could've done way worse from a stock muffler

custom blows all other systems out of the water . more performance , cheaper , you can get any tip you want and you can make it loud or near stock sounding.

I hope we all helped with your decision and we see a pic soon. :D

holy crap the Gen 2 precision mufflers axle back sounds AMAZING. i put it on myself in my friends driveway. lots of bass and NO resonation. tone almost dissapears at cruising speed. and the popping! it pops between shifts and slowing down and NEVER gets annoying. i LOVE it. ill post pics soon.

Well, I was the prototype for the Auto Axleback and now I'm running the only known (as far as we can tell) passanger side exiting exhaust system.

Stylis does great work and can really design them!

Precision Muffler, you've seen every one else who has one and how happy they are with it. Gabe definitely treats people right and creates a solid product

I hate that man. these arent drifters. theyre fwd. I just don't get it. oh well.. imo the muffler shouldnt be pointed upwards and out at an angle but that's just me.

oh hey sice yer exhaust isn't tucked up next to the body you can remove that heatsheild and get a very slight weight savings!!!!

Apples and oranges Darren. Thats why I have a lot of different axle back styles. Hope you can understand that. :D

questionable cosmetic quality on my strup. if you buy, look over good prior to installation. good sound though.

everybody is entitled to their opinion. theres no law that says angled mufflers are only for drift cars. in my opinion the precision muffler axle back looks and sound good :P. it being angled to the side is an added bonus to me. it sits flat so when i lower it it wont drag amd it was a breeze to install!

Stylis- Do you make the Gen2 to come straight out instead of angled?

I just put an Espelir JGT500 on my box and definitely recommend it -- great build quality, really low JDM bass'y tone w/ nice racecar off-throttle burbling, engine doesn't seem to bog down under loads like hills, etc. like before and feels smoother overall, excellent price, and great looks. I dunno, works for me.

Don't forget the GReddy option. A little more money, about $350,
but if you want performance without the noise this is it.
It sounds stock at idol and low rumble with reving or gassing.
Best of all you can hear the stereo all the time with no poping or
cracking. My car is dropped now on tanabe NF210 with no problem.

Don't waste your money on the Blitz. It isn't the same that Nomuraken uses. It looks awesome, but the sound just isn't there.

I had a club member with the Blitz, it sounded like a fart can on the highway. Side by side with the Strup there was no comparison.

The Blitz does not sound like a fartcan at all. It really doesn't sound like anything... it is barely louder than stock. It does have a very nice tone, just quiet. Probably the rest of the exhaust system choking it.

All i know is when i drove behind him on the highway it sounded like crap. He promptly took the Blitz off and replaced it with Strup after he heard mine and it no longer sounds like crap.

It is pretty loud. I just installed one on my xB last weekend. I stuck the silencer in it. Now it is very quiet. Almost too quiet.. but it was damn loud without the silencer. One thing to mention, at freeway speed with a 5 speed tranny, it is quiet without the silencer. When you get on it... it will roar.

It is not ricey. Very low rumble.
