View Full Version : right then - mechanically deficient needs opinion
arullier 03-03-2004, 09:35 PM My xb is stock save all of the options i got when i bought it (alloys, fog lights, aftermarket obx pedals which suck like nobody's business, aftermarket shift knob, all of the interior lights, and the wing in the back (if you can call it that))...i don't have a lot of money but i can probably spend around $75-225 here and there on my car..so my question is what do i do first?
Intake?
Lowering springs?
Exhaust?
Interior?
Other?
I am sure 2 thousand people have asked this before but hey what can i say? I'm my own man...
Any thoughts, suggestions?
ThrillaGorilla 03-03-2004, 09:47 PM No doubt, I'd say drop it 8)

doctorcue 03-03-2004, 11:50 PM My 1st Mod, aftermarket alarm. A little security never hurts! I know it's boring, but you stand a better chance of your stock box being there when you leave it!
arullier 03-04-2004, 12:28 AM DROP THAT BAD BOY
THANKS FOR RESPONSES AND FOR THE LINK. LOTS OF GOOD INFO.

I retract my previous statement. Gotta agree with doctorcue on this one! Safeguard your investment with a 2 way pager alarm first, better to be safe than sorry since it seems a lot of the boxes are being hit :x
Djuan 03-04-2004, 01:46 AM I'd say intake first, since performance is a bigger priority over cosmetics... but thats me...
pmpnxb 03-04-2004, 01:52 AM cosmetics first! drop it!

I completely agree... Intake First... my xB is here in less than 2 weeks & I already have an Intake lined up!
KingLou 03-04-2004, 02:56 AM Springs or alarm............contact Bill (scionspecialistvegas) for either.
KiL
arullier 03-04-2004, 04:16 AM more confused now that at the beginning .. lol....alarm? springs? intake? all 3 make sense but here's my thoughts ...
alarm: should always be the first thing to get - about 5 years ago - i am not up to date on any of the new alarms but i do know (don't ask me how) that if someone wants your car and the are experience - it'll be in tijuana smoking a jay on a beach. i'll have to give that some thought
springs: love the look when it is lowered..thinking about having my alloys painted black - that way i won't hurt for rims so bad.. *sniff
intake: love the sound and the look. Good thing about intake is my cousin can hook me up - but some of these new intakes rock and i gotta have that...
hard decision - cant go wrong with either - i'll have to consult with the Oracle...
scionracerxb 03-04-2004, 04:20 AM DROP IT
Djuan 03-04-2004, 06:13 PM I shall have to enter deep trance to break through. (rising) I
will be scanning you through the Oracle Head.
Kauto turns around and sits down with back toward Quail. He reaches up
and lowers
his cowl, REVEALING:
A TINY LITTLE HEAD GROWING OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS NECK!
The head's eyes are closed in sleep. It is utterly hairless and looks
like one of those dolls made from dried apples; a shriveled, ancient-looking yellow
little ball.
The LITTLE FACE TWITCHED, YAWNS and OPENS ITS EYES, BLINKS. It looks at
Melina, then at Quail.
It opens its toothless little mouth and SPEAKS.
ORACLE HEAD Do not fear me. I need your openness...
ZOOM IN ON QUAIL'S EYES.
ORACLE HEAD (continuing) Open you thoughts to my presence...CONTINUE ZOOM
UNTIL
ENTIRE FRAME is filled by QUAIL'S EYE.
ORACLE HEAD (continuing) Get an intake... performance first...
arullier 03-05-2004, 04:59 PM the oracle makes sense -(and may have taken one too many a red pill), so - after another round of deep thinking rafikkian meditation i have come to some conclusions:
1) i am not the one
2) i am not 2-99999 either
3) i may not even crack the top 4th billion
3) i will get both springs and intake
4) i am going to be one broke ___ mofo
2fixA 03-06-2004, 03:14 PM yeah, but you'll be hella happy :D and come out to our Scion Central (Precision Muffler and Brake) meet on saturday, we can probably pay gabe a few bucks to throw it on the rack and put those badboys on
Get the intake.. Then drop it.

Good job, I was gonna say drop it, but why not do both!
djdirtyrice 03-06-2004, 04:23 PM wheel & tire package
Tuner 03-06-2004, 04:28 PM Any changes to the intake/exhaust should be done from the rear to the front. So do a catback before an intake
arullier 03-08-2004, 06:17 PM thanks for all the advice...
good stuff...
