View Full Version : h.i.d. help please. swerve 10-09-2003, 03:34 AM does anyone know how to install these on our cars, is their a certin way to do it?. i really have no idea. i know they are illegal now to retrofit, but i have a chance to pick some up, but i dont want to get them unless i know how to install them first. any info anyone can give me would be helpful thanks... its_ikon 10-09-2003, 04:26 AM as of 8-15-03 they are illegal and may not be worth the hassle Aztec 10-09-2003, 05:11 AM HIDS i will have a group buy soon. and you wont get in trouble unless you are blinding oncoming traffic. alot of police and sheriffs depts are not aware of the new laws. the only ones they might know somthing would be motors. scionlife 10-09-2003, 05:42 AM Its pretty easy to install. There is a ballast (small metal box) for each light and a bulb. You basically wire positive and negative to each ballast and then plug in the old headlight plug so it knows when to turn on. Then you plug in the new bulb and install the bulb in you headlight housing. It takes just minutes to wire it up, it takes longer to mount the ballasts and secure the wiring. Darren swerve 10-09-2003, 06:02 AM thanks alot everyone for your input, and thanks darren for explaing it for me. i was searching older post and some said that the scions use reverse polarity or something like that when installing hids. will i have to do something special when i install them or is it just something i dont need to worry about? thanks... hahajoey 10-09-2003, 08:05 AM i have installed HIDS on 3-4 cars. i've played with 6-7 setups. my car has gone thru 4 sets of hids. i have retrofitted oem bmw bulbs to a civic, then to a XB and now i have even done it to a japanese integra headlight housing..
