WHY CAN"T TURBO KITS BE THIS CHEAP?

I bet you if turbo companies sell at this price they will sell so many kits its not even funny.

Looks like the same kit a local has.. I had to go pick him up the other day when his wastegate nuts loosened.. He couldn't seem to build boost (wonder why) and then they finally vibrated off..
Wastegate fell off, and drug the ground, only being held on by a vaccum line..
They work ok, but probably not for very long.

This is the problem, everybody wants something for nothing and its all caused by Honda parts being so cheap. If you want a cheap turbo kit go buy a Honda not a Scion. If you want to put some cheap piece of crap turbo on a brand new $20,000 car then make your own and don't _____ when your new car has no warranty and blows up. You are paying for all of the hours of engineering as well as the turbo kit parts, and not just for some cheap ___ turbo parts from Ebay. Personally if I turbo my car ZPI will be doing it because they know what they are talking about and it obviously works after seeing the video.
bhaahaha, turbo + honda = cheap. you have to be smoking some serious crack.

you are telling me that it cost next to nothing to turbo my honda? If you want quality + turbo + a car that was originally NA. you end up spending a good amount of money.
with building an engine, getting a good engine management system, good turbo, injectors, fuel pump, the list goes on. Don't attempt to stereotype hondas as being cheap or i'm sure honda honda owners could comment on the general perception of scion drivers being little 17yr old kids that don't understand what a performance car is.

supawhite go talk trash somewhere else. I made a simple comment.
Who says your "$20,000" tc won't blow up once you slap that ZPI kit on there.
But one video won't do justice.
NO OFFENSE TO ZPI.

I believe he meant that parts for Hondas are usually cheaper because they're more readily available but turboing any car is never cheap especially when you are using quality parts..I started out with Hondas and my previous car was a Turbo Honda and I grew up around high powered turbo Hondas so I know what you mean.
That ebay kit doesn'tlook like it has any kind of fuel management whatsoever. That kit would screw your car up royaly if you just slapped it on there. at least an FPR, and probably some injectors. I would say, a standalone would be a better idea and upgrade the stock injectors.
I wasn't trash talking Honda's. I was just stating that it is very cheap to slap on a turbo kit. If you actually do it right like the one pictured it will cost a great deal of money. ZPI has been testing the kit for a long time and put a lot of time in development so I would bet that the motor won't blow up on only 6.5PSI of boost. My friend has a 2004 Corolla-S and is building some rediculous ghetto turbo kit for it very cheap but I can almost bet it won't last more than a month because it is pieced together from like 50 different cars and it looks like hell. If you are gonna do it, make sure you do it right and spend the money that is needed to do it right.
Just my 2 cents guys. I would refrain from purchasing those slap on turbo kits. Not naming anyone in particular but my experience has been to go with a company that makes a tested product for your car. I had a custom turbo for my car and it took me about a year to get it where I wanted it http://www.cardomain.com/ride/409869. Since no one made it for my car`I had it customized. I have a tc also and would like to modify but would only go with the name brand companies not these fly by night get your money and run outfits that slap a few parts together and call it a turbo kit. You would be better off just building a kit yourself less headache. Again just my 2 cents from experience. Been there done that

Nevermind the fuel management, where's the charge pipes, BOV, oil feed and return lines, and a MAP isolator seing how it's going on a Honda.
That's not a turbo kit, thats a manifold, turbo and intercooler, flanged to bolt up to a Honda. Nothing else. Looks like sub par components as well. Remember, OBX turbo manifolds look gorgeous, but instantly deteriorate and crack. Looks aren't everything, but it helps. ZPI, Scion Speed, and Alphaworks are the only turbo companies that make worthwhile product worth consideration.

everything looks like knock offs, if that was a real tial wastegate they would say. btw honda turbo kits are not cheap. i paided 3600 for just they kit, to bad i later replaced every peice but the charge pipe.

Here's an older picture with my old turbo setup, so you can see a better angle on the engine. But these engines drop perfectly into place within civics with no customization needed.

Thanks for the comments on the new manifold, it was made locally here in Louisville as was my old setup.
