Default Dealer paint sealant/protectant vs. rock chips

SO....... I just remembered that I bought the paint sealant/protectant from my Scion dealership when I bought the car. Can any of you dealers comment on this? My hood and bumper and even the A pillar (that's a surprise) has lots of paint chips. Did I not buy that option to protect the paint? (Especially having heard about the paint problems?)

I'm too lazy to dig out the paperwork right now but since i bought that doesn't it mean I can file some kind of claim and get it all fixed?

Really sorry to inform you buddy but all you bought was something you could of done for $20 at the most and it does nothing for paint chips

I forgot to mention how ticked off I get when I hear they duped another of our members, undercoat, paint sealant, fabric protectant, all are blatant rip offs that cost them nearly nothing, almost pure profit and not worth a darn.

Sincerly,
Rick

Whoops - well I can at least take some satisfaction in the fact that the guy who sold that to me doesn't work there anymore now.

:: shrug ::

I've also heard mixed reviews about the clear bra thing. I like my paint to have a mirror finish all the way around. I'll fix the paint chips by hand myself - but isn't there some kind of teflon kind of stuff to put on there for future protection? Seems I've read that somewhere. Of course I'm asking because I don't have 400-600 to invest on something like the clear bra. I can only imagine how that'd look in a year, besides.

that paint protection system is usually nothing more than a product like klasse all in one
http://superiorcarcare.net/klasse.html
which provides nothing for chip protection, but makes the suface of your paint look like it's always waxed...but by itself, it only lasts maybe a month tops...you need to put some type of wax over it

They told me that the paint would be under warranty from road hazzards such as rocks and acid rain if I purchased the ~$600 protection/paint sealant. I got it in writing...

So I guess they get to repaint my car whenever I feel like it durning my upgraded 7yr 100,000mile warranty?

That is amazing for a paint sealant or are you talking about the clear bra. Paint sealants are glorified waxes and will not prevent rock chip damage. If you want preventive maintenance for that you need a clear bra, black bra or BE very careful when driving.

I've also heard mixed reviews about the clear bra thing. I like my paint to have a mirror finish all the way around. I'll fix the paint chips by hand myself - but isn't there some kind of teflon kind of stuff to put on there for future protection? Seems I've read that somewhere. The product has a clear coat finish on them and will look as good as you take care of it. So in a year if you dont wax the product it will look bad and so will the rest of the car. If you do the routine deal of washing and waxing it will look great for years to come.

Most cant afford the 400-600 for the clear bra they say, but just think about how much it would cost to repaint the same areas of the car.

BTW, we are having a sale for tC owners that want clear bras right now. If we can help with anything else please let us know.
