RCA converter, pics and a question
Ok. would it be easier to access the back speakers' wires from under the door sills rather than removing the back panels? It would seem that way to me by looking at the following two pictures and noting that the wire harness goes from the back speaker, to the floor, then up towards the front. I ask because I will be wiring a converter for rca outs for a future amplifier. ....pics courtesy of "How to gut a tC"...
Thanks.

Thanks.

If you are adding a high to low converter, do it behind the radio. that way if you every upgrade your headunit, your Rca cables are where you need them. It is very easy to get rear speaker wires on the back of the radio, they even have a seperate 5 pin plug.

I agree with Piston....put it behind the HU.....
side note: I don't advise getting one of these "cheapy" converters that go for $20....you'll not get the possible sound quality available from the setup....look into using Hi-Level inputs on the amp or look into the JL Audio Cleansweep or AudioControl LS6

Here's what you need...it's a preamp out conversion specially made for us. I got it on ebay from seller id=euro_werks. They sell conversions for both single and dual RCA outs. The pic is of the dual unit that I just installed in my xB.

The neat part with mine is that it also taps into the stock speaker wiring harness, eliminating the need to run new speaker wiring if you are using speakers in the stock locations. The seller of these is a member of Bay Area Scions and posts here on SL under the handle "G-Nizzle".
