View Full Version : What do they do with the factory steelies????????
ricerocketdave 03-05-2004, 05:22 AM I was just wondering if you get the factory wheels when you purchase the TRD 18" or 19" wheels. Do they give you the option to keep the factory wheels or do you simpily just not get them. If you ask me I feel that I am already paying 2 grand shouldn't I get the OE wheels back???? Thanks any info would be appreciated
xBassist 03-05-2004, 05:53 AM I bought the TRD 18's when I picked up my xB... They sent me home with the 18's, the stock wheels/tires and the stock hub-caps
highend 03-05-2004, 06:13 AM Carson Toyota/Scion sold me an xb with expensive rims and tires, but didn't give me the stock wheels/tires - oh, but they gave me the hubcaps - thanks. I kinda wish I had the stock wheels just in case...
superjeer 03-05-2004, 08:53 AM That is the main thing that made me buy aftermarket wheels. I like the TRD's.. well, the price is high, sure.. but I need a summer set and a winter set in NY. So, I just bought my summer set and will store the steelies and goodyears to use in the winters.
scibrew 03-05-2004, 02:03 PM You pay for it, you own it. They have to give you the originals back, you bought them when you bought the car. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

I agree, If youy didn't get the factory wheels you got jerked bigtime. The car comes with wheels, tires, and hubcaps when you buy it. The othre wheels are extra. If I were you guys I would go back to the dealer and flip out until someone gave me my stock wheels and tires.
reyvan 03-05-2004, 07:53 PM Actually, most dealers have no need for extra sets of steel wheels. not many customers coming in to buy steel wheels and we have no use for mutiple sets. I would think the dealer is doing the customer a favor by keeping them. Most customers don't have room at home for extra wheels and tires. Simply ask the dealer and most would be happy to give them back. Just remember today it seems like you may need those extra wheels forever tommorrow it may seem like you've had an extra set of wheels cluttering the garage forever.

Actually, this is not true. The stock wheels are sold to the parts department and then sold once again to insurance companies or persons needing an Original wheel.
All the dealers I went to would not give me the stock wheels in the event I bought their custom wheels. I chose to buy an xB with stock wheels and buy my aftermarket wheels else where.
BochScion 03-05-2004, 08:59 PM We give our customers all there stock parts back as they paid for those parts. It wouldnt be right for us to take them from them.
Djuan 03-05-2004, 09:41 PM And don't forget everyone, when you can't handle the clutter from the spare steelies you could always donate them to the Djuan Tire Heaven Foundation, where Djuan will personally roll on your steelies... at no cost...*

xBassist 03-06-2004, 12:17 AM When I bought the 18" TRD wheels, my dealer said,"Those stock tires were included in the base price of your vehicle, so they are yours.. You keep both sets"... They just folded down my backseats, covered them in plastic and loaded the wheels in there..

And that's how it should be done  .
Huskersnow 03-06-2004, 12:28 AM I bought my Xb with dealer installed 18's and I got a credit for the stock rims and tires

wow...for how much?
Huskersnow 03-06-2004, 12:48 AM I remember seeing the amount on the sticker price for the dealer installed options but now that I have gone through my paperwork I can't find the sticker for the dealer installed options, but I do have the factory sticker. If I remember right it was like $385-400 give or take 100. I know I saw it because it listed the price for the 18's and tires and then a credit for factory steel rims and all season tires with the hubcaps.
