So i went down to the "scion" dealer today...
So i went down to the "scion" toyota dealer today. Get this, they have 1 thats right 1 scion in stock. They only had 1 scion xA in stock and it was already sold. So i go over to the sales man and ask "This is a scion dealer right?"
the sales man says "Yea, we sure are!"
I say "ok, were are the scions?"
He says "welll.... we dont have any, but any car can be ordered set up the way you want"
I say "great, lets do that.. lets order a $18,000 car without me driving it or even seeing it!"
He says "so.... you dont want to order it?"
I say "This dosnt make any sence, this is like if i went to IBM and they said "we dont have any computers"
Anyway long story short i dont have my scion and i'm rather mad. I need to go to another scion dealer but i used my 1 day off to go to this dealer and shoot some cd cover art for my friends band. I'm thinking i should report them to scion or something. Anyone ever seen such madness?

I suggest calling dealerships before you waste time going to them & finding out they don't have anything for you to testdrive.
I bought mine without even test driving it. I placed a deposit last May (over a month before it was released) and didn't get to pick it up until mid-july. Trust me, you'll be happy with it.
Check out: http://www.sciondrivetour.com/ See if a test drive is going on in your area.

Order the car. Place a deposit down. Once it gets there drive it, if you dont like it then dont buy it and get a refund on your deposit.
Most Scion dealerships have a long waiting list, so they wont have a problem selling your car, and wont worry about the refund.
Oh yeah, and look up Just In Time Inventory, as well as made to order. These are the invetory philosophies that Scion dealerships typically follow....

that is kinda stupid... they should have one of each model... the toyota by us always has one of each sitting out front... they even designated one tC as their perminant test driver...
i picked out the plack one on the show floor... and he allowed me to test drive the silver one from the back instead of putting more miles on the one i was going to buy

So this is a common thing? my mind has been blown.
Oh and they were'nt sold out, they NEVER had them. the only ones they ever get are the ones that are ordered from them. This seems very odd to me. They should have a demo modle. i cant see how a car dealer could sell cars without having cars.

i think the company is pushing its image with always being sold out... they never have backstock at any of their dealerships...
they should have a demo car though at least... the dealership by me always has at least one...
but most of their buyers want to order to suit themselves

My dealer (Wilson Scion, Bellingham, WA) was one of each that they can't sell. They got the xA & xB last April, 2 months before they could sell Scions (June '04 opening in WA). They still have them - use them for test drives & courtesy cars. I'm suprised other dealers don't have the same deal.
the tC is hot! It's selling like mad! If you were the dealer, what would you do?
1. Keep a car that has been test driven and continues to lose its value? OR
2. Sell that baby and make the cash?
I understand your pain about not being able to test drive a tC. I was debating about a tC or Mazda3. After test driving the tC, it was no contest! I ordered mine the next day. I couldn't be happier! You gotta understand-Scion Dealerships are selling over 6000 tC units a month! That's just crazy!

Heh.
Yeah, it seems fairly common for many dealers not to have any stock.
In January when I went in to check out Scions (and didn't intend to buy, but bought that day...) they had exactly ONE Scion - the previous year's xB with 18 inch wheels, leather interior, sunroof, intake, exhaust, aftermarket sound system, etc.
They pushed it out of the showroom so I could drive it.
It was a very poor sample of what a stocker would be like, but even at that I liked it.
In later visits to the dealer they have had a smattering of xA, xB, and tC's sitting on the lot, but still no demos.
Seems odd, but as you'll see, in many areas this seems to be the way it works.
(The other dealer in town has company-owned demos, but for personal reasons that's not where I chose to buy.)
