Curious as to what kind of questions your xA gets, and what comments it recieves?

In the two days I've been driving my xA, I've had people ask about it twice. One question they both asked was "How do you pronounce it?"

I also had two people in minis hang with me while on the high way...

I have been asked that question at least twice a week. I'm getting a license plate INAFH (It's not a F****** Hybrid!)

LOL....some guy came up to me at the gas station "WHILE I WAS PUTTING GAS IN THE CAR" and said " Hey holmes is that one of those electric cars"....i wuz like ummm...not anymore..oops i just put GAS IN IT :shock:

well, he probably meant "hybrid" when he said "electric car."

had it for a week putting 250 miles on the car and haven't been stopped yet. haha.

I've been asked if its electric and i walk people around and show them the gas tank and tell them i just put D batteries in there and it runs for a month on 14 D's.

Then when im asked if its a hybrid i tell them no because the back wheels dont have covers over them. Because as well al know the covers a required by law to prevent electric current from jumping out and shocking people on the sidewalk.

But the best one i got is "Is that the new PT cruiser?"
Some other ones i got
"Is it a ford focus?"
"Who makes it?"
"How many MPG?" (That being their opening line to talk to me)
"Is there an american version?"
"How much does it cost retail?"
"How much did you pay?"

And when i tell people i got a Scion xA they usually say
"I dont like them they look like a box"
Why us xA owners can get credit for the Scion name i'll never know.

I just got that question again on Wednsday.....Is it a gas/ electric ?

The funny thing is this was from a Toyota salesman. He didn't even know what a Scion is. I told him he should know.....he may be selling them soon in AZ. Do these guys ever read car magazines? I gave him the tour and as I was about to enter the parts department, another salesman zipped over to take a look at it. :)

I think what the guy ment is because the readouts are in the center of the dash he thought it was ment to be driven on the right side of the road. I dont know the quesion made me laugh so i just smles and said "Not yet"

"What is that?" is the question I get every day, with "Is it a hybrid" running a close second. I love watching their mouths fall open when I answer the second question:

"No, but I get nearly 40 mpg...."

My friend and I went to 7-11 for slurpees last night. On the way back to the car, this couple was looking at it. They asked "Is that a hybrid?" and I'm like "heh, it isn't a hybrid, but it does get good mileage.... It's a Toyota under the Scion name."

I get the same questions all the damn time when I get out of my xB... I love the "is that one of them new hybrids?" question but the best was when someone asked me if it had a v8 in it ... I said nope, it's got 1/2 of a v8 though ... the guy replied "so what, like a small 6?" .. almost asked him if he was an idiot, but I think it would have confused him.

i too got assaulted when i went to 7-11 to buy a slurpee in my xb. like 3 ppl came up to me and asked me what that was. some guy just came up to me to tell me that he loves the car, and then walked away. then while i was leaving, some guy that had just come out of an adult video store runs to my car and goes " open her up, what is that?" lol. it was a pretty funny day

One time when i was leaving my school parking lot, some guy walks up to my car and asks what car that is. I told him that it's a scion from toyota. Then he tells me that my exhaust makes my car sound like a honda...err...inside i was thinking to myself "ummm ok, sure think what you want"..lol. He goes on talking to me and asked how much it cost, he thought it cost around 30 G's...then i tell him starting price is under 14 G's. The guy liked my car though. :D

Ive been asked ALL the above questions. Ive had people of all ages staring at it on the road too.

But my favorite was, "Is that a new mini Lexus van" :shock:

I used to drive an Echo, so I was used to the question " Is that one of those, you know, the....ummm..." My answer was always, no, it runs on gas but just a little bit..."

This couple walked by today in the parking garage and they turned to take a closer look. The ladies says " Is that the Honda Element? We keep seeing these around." I said "No, these cars are metal, not half-plastic...Of course, I explained why it was better for other reasons too.

Some guy probably in his 70s told me yesterday how it reminder him of the old Model A's. Whose gonna be the first to put an old skool sliding ragtop in???

When I was dropping my son off at school, I had a teacher say "Doesn't Mercedes make something like that?" as she made this "flat in the back" motion with her hand. I said "Which one? Do you mean the one that costs 3 times as much or the one that is 4 times as much???

The SCION dealer on Harbor blvd., in Costa Mesa, CA had a xB with the old style canvas ENORMOUS sliding roofs (rooves?) last night. They wanted about $2K more for the roof, plus had it it pimped out with pirellis and wheels.

got my first "what is that?" from a neighbor this morning while i was washing my car....

since i was really into it, and not focusing on the guy.. i was like, "Its a pretty much a little toyota."

I just got my XA on Sunday. I drive to Manhattan to work every day, all I can say is driving my XA is positively dangerous. Several times people have gotten out of their cars at red lights to check it out (this scares the sh*t out of me). This one guy in an Escalade chased me down the Westside Highway just to get a good look then sped off giving me the finger. Twice now people just blocked me from moving forward one guy stopped to look while the light cycled twice from green to red. When I went to fill up the car with gas today a crowd started forming around my car, they screamed questions at me, and when I didn't answer I thought they were going to mob me. All I wanted was a small car that's easy to park. I was born in London where small cars are quite common. I think I'm going to garage the car for a few weeks because my hart just cant take it.

Have your salesman give you a stack of brochures with his biz card stapled in them, then you can just let people read about it... :roll:

I didn't even get out of the automall. I'm at the light waiting to go and an escalade pulls up to me and asked me what I was driving. Then I got looks on the way home and people asked me what it was at the gas station and at the golf course and at the..............
