Default Can The 06 Stereo Go Into The 05???

Sorry if this has been discusse before but I saw pics of the 06 tC and I got jelous because they have a whole new stereo and they have the audio controls on the steering wheel. I had heard that they were going to change the CD players again and what Im wondering if they would give us the new stereo's if we had a problem with ours. I just switched stock stereos because an older model that came witrh the 05's sounded better then the one i got with my 05 RS 2.0 xB. And my stereo now gets cd's jammed in the player and it takes about 3 times hitting the eject to finally have the CD come out. Let me know. I know a lot of us want the new raido too!

well i don't see why they couldn't give you an '06 radio if they didn't have any '05's..
you're not alont in the ejecting problem.. as most people know here, i've had my radio replace 3 times in my tC.. the 2nd one had the ejecting problem.. could always ask the dealer if they'd replace it and once they prove to themselves that it has the ejecting problem then maybe they might get you an '06.. just have to ask

i was at the dealership by my house today and asked the sales guy the same question. he told me that they'd have to replace not only the head unit, but also the steering unit. he said the whole column had to be changed, but i'm not sure if that's right. either way, he told me for the price, it wouldn't be worth it-especially since u could get a pretty good aftermarket unit with freestanding remote or one like the pioneer remote that'll attach to the steering wheel for less.

oh yeah it would require a lot of work to put the '06 steering wheel controls in an '05.. but i was saying that if they needed a new headunit a dealer could put the '06 in the '05.. the 05 doesn't have steering wheel controls anyway but the radio would work fine..

YES, the 06 HU can replace the 05 HU. You just won't be able to connect the iPod or use steering wheel controls. The main harness for the HU is the same.

the big question is if the dealer would replace his '05 with an '06 headunit if the '05 was defective..

there's a diy on the ipod adapter thing somewhere on scionlife. it's been done. i think people have been running the wiring by the e-brake to the head unit.

yeah any 06 owners if u could do that it would be great! I just want the newer stereo. I know some people would tell me to just buy an aftermarket but why would i do that when i could get a perfectly new and free radio? I actually like the Pioneer radio, I know its not the best radio but hey it bumps for me!
