Hey! I been a scionlife member for a month. This is an awesome site. I have made several decisions re: my Netobox (dark cherry pearl) from suggestion some of you have made. Anyways, today I had a Hotchkis sway bar kit installed.

The action on this baby is sweet! 8)

I picked it up from Carson Toyota parts (best price out there) and I had it installed at Super Autobacs in Stanton (Not the cheapest place :?, but great people service :)).

Now my Netobox handles great. Riding back on the 22 freeway making some fast lane changes just felt great.

Anyways, Good Job to Hotchkis! And those who said on your posts that this set was the best, the bomb, tops, or whatever... You were more than right.

Thanks

:D :D :D

Do you mind if I ask how much? I was thinking of having my sways intalled there.

Yep! it is worth it. One month ago I installed the Hotchkis strut bar. I felt some difference in handling but not much. With the sway bar kit, you can feel the difference right away. I was making lane changes at high speeds ( I don't recommend it, was just testing ). Also on curved and hairpin freeway on ramps and on ramps, the car feels more stable.

One of these days I will take it on a twisted road.

Perhaps going on pch 1 would be a great ride.

Super Autobacs is the ish! Expensive as all hell, but they have a lot of good stuff you can't get anywhere else.

I sent this as a pm to a couple of you. I couldn't post it before. I am still learning how to use the site.

The kit was 159 and cents. I picked it up muself from Carson, no shipping charge.

On the install the first quote was 140.

Then the manager told me it was a difficult install so he told me it was going to be 210 ($70.00x3 Three hours of labor). We agreed on 200.

When the car was done I noted that they only took two hours and fifteen minutes to do it. I told the manager. Final price, ladies and gents, was $175.00 American greenbacks.

Nice price! :D That was my original install price as well, glad you timed it. I love my sway bars too. its too bad you couldn't come up here to the norcal area to install. I would have had a mini meet at the scion central just for the install! 8) Maybe on your exhaust mod. 8)

You just learned the dirty little secret.

Strut bars do very little for handling. Cars have so much torsional rigidity now that they barely flex anyway. The strut tower things do a little but they are mostly bling bling for your engine bay and a good way to waste $300.

A rear antisway will make 10x the difference where it counts, on the road, not in the Denny's parking lot with your hood open showing people your pretty carbon fiber engine cover and yellow spark plug wires.

who else makes sway bars for scions? after jerking on the hotchkis strut bars at the dealership that were on cars they don't seem very high quality (the strut bars), i don't know about the sway bars, but they sound good. anyways, any other companies? it'd be nice to have some choices in them.

I have bought numerous sway bars from a company in Florida called ADDCO. They OEM to JC whitney, and others, and are cheap (but good quality steel). I called them, and they hadn't seen an xB yet, so I'll ship them my original bar and have a thicker one (or several of varying diameters) twisted up. If you want to get in on a BETA-test program, email me (@hotmail.com).

FYI: More info on the Hotchkis bar SET... they come as a front HOLLOW 1 1/8" bar, and a rear 0.5" bar set. Truck Performance, in Irvine, CA, asked $185 for them, but sounded like they would deal.

What up nest?

About the strut bar thing, it's allright, I didn't take it personally.

My Netobox on the other hand (dark cherry pearl xb) took it really bad.
She'll get over it. She knows she stilll looks good with that kickass Hotchkis st bar that only cost 140.00. 8) And I got that from Carson Toyota too!!
