Default TRD exhaust note WITH power gains??

just searchin for an exhaust out there with that soft subtle TRD exhaust note, but will ALSO give me power gains...if there aint anything out there...then I'll just go with the TRD, but if there is, I would REALLY like to know about it! I didn't buy this thing to go fast obviously, I just look at it as an added bonus!

Most axlebacks will only give 1-2 hp. I have a few catalog numbers from Magnaflow mufflers that work nicely, and can be installed for under $200 total.

Are you looking for a trd wanna be for a cheaper price? Or are you looking for a better muffler than TRD with a quiet tone?

looking for a better muffler with the TRD sound...Im just not into the raspy stuff...I could care less how much it increases my HP...to me, the more discrete and bass like it is...the more powerful the car sounds...I guess thats just my domestic V-8 heritage comin out in me

Actually, the Tanabe Hypermedallion axleback was ALOT quieter than the custom Magnaflow setup I have now. It was as much price-wise as some catback systems, and prolly the same as some custom systems from a muffler shop.

Like a 5.8 liter w/ headers and a dual Magnaflow mufler set-up?

if only we could get the reliability and gas mileage out of one of em! until then, I am sticking with strictly imports.

Personally, the DC Sports axle back exhaust sounds very good. Tone is mellow and subtle, just like I was looking for, and they say it gives some performance gains, as well. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Anyone have recordings of their exhaust? or know where I can go online to hear what they sound like?

I don't have a recording, but I'm not too far away from you - San Leandro. I have the DC exhaust (identical to Strup, or so I'm told). If you're going to be in my neck of the woods, then PM or email me. Maybe we can meet briefly so you can hear the exhaust in person.

all axlebacks blow as far as performance its purely for sh*ts and giggles.....to me spending money on something like upgraded exhaust i for sure want something more than a different tone and a custom catback in 2in would be barely anything more than a brandname axleback

I agree. I have the Tanabe exhaust for my xA and it's but pretty quiet. I wouldn't say it's louder than stock just because "loud" is not the word to describe the sound. It's a subtle growl when taking off from a standstill and is barely louder than stock at freeway speeds. I sometimes wish it were louder, but I appreciate still being able to have a conversation with my passengers.
