thats one of those questions like

If a tree falls in a forest and ....... you know.

i think its to save cost of the lip. if you damage one you can just buy one side. look at the Corolla S and the Camry SE with the optional TRD lip kit. its a 6 piece kit not the usual 4 you would see on a regular car

just my 2 cents

The reason is that the bumper would scrape the truck when getting off it for initial delivery. By having it in two pieces, it will fit inside the car. It is stored in the floor behind the front seats. The bumper is assembled at the dealer. If you see xBs on initial delivery at the dealer, you will notice the bumper is not installed.

Hey man, you are crazy.

Yeah, I thought about that, too. I am not sure why they did it, but they did. Perhaps it's more secure this way and less prone to bouncing around and getting scratched up.

i think installed at the port, because when i saw my xB sitting in plastic, the lips were already on it.

When I first heard this, I went to my dealer and checked it out. I have personally seen three xB's, all from different shipments, sitting on the lot without the skirts.

I bought mine right off of the truck, no skirts were on it, no hub-caps and the front wheels were tapped-up to prevent brake dust from building up.

i thought about this...
i have to debunk it...
the front bumper skirt is one piece and about the same size as the rear.
if they can do it for the front, they can do it for the rear.

yes the skirts are installed either at port or dealer depending...

Nice thinking, you may be right, I'm not sure. I read this a long time ago and am passing the info along. Whether or not it' s to keep from scraping, the boxes do come out of the factory without the skirt on, and with it in two pieces tucked behind the front seats. Perhaps it's to be able to tie down the vehicle.
