By having it in two pieces, it will fit inside the car. It is stored in the floor behind the front seats. The bumper is assembled at the dealer. If you see xBs on initial delivery at the dealer, you will notice the bumper is not installed. ChrisLimEditionXB 06-21-2005, 12:54 PM call me crazy but i would think they could put the thing as one piece in through the back with the seats down... true? but then again u r calling me crazy Max 06-21-2005, 02:34 PM call me crazy but i would think they could put the thing as one piece in through the back with the seats down... true? but then again u r calling me crazy Hey man, you are crazy. Yeah, I thought about that, too. I am not sure why they did it, but they did. Perhaps it's more secure this way and less prone to bouncing around and getting scratched up. dgHotLava 06-21-2005, 02:38 PM moved... firesquare 06-21-2005, 03:04 PM The reason is that the bumper would scrape the truck when getting off it for initial delivery. When I first heard this, I went to my dealer and checked it out. I have personally seen three xB's, all from different shipments, sitting on the lot without the skirts. Digger 06-21-2005, 05:08 PM I bought mine right off of the truck, no skirts were on it, no hub-caps and the front wheels were tapped-up to prevent brake dust from building up. firesquare 06-21-2005, 05:31 PM The reason is that the bumper would scrape the truck when getting off it for initial delivery. Nice thinking, you may be right, I'm not sure. I read this a long time ago and am passing the info along. Whether or not it' s to keep from scraping, the boxes do come out of the factory without the skirt on, and with it in two pieces tucked behind the front seats. Perhaps it's to be able to tie down the vehicle. |
