I am purchasing new scion tc in about a week and I just wanted to know where I should start with the aftermarket parts.

I drive an xB but I think a lot of people will agree that suspension is where to begin.

people ask all kinds of things on this board, a lot of times in unclear manners. There's been a few times I've thought I understood someone, only to find out they meant something else. You can assume all you like, however, I'd rather wait until I know what the guy is specifically asking for.

Regarding where to start, that's all a manner of personal preference and finances.
You can say start with suspension all you like, but if he wants tein SS's, and can't yet afford them, then maybe suspension isn't the best place to start.

Bottom line is *I* wanted more information before I answered the guy. If you want to throw your $0.02 in the ring before he clarifies, fine by me, but don't harp on me cause I was trying to help.

But seriously, if I were you I'd start off by asking myself one question- do I want to start modding the car's engine or the car's body/suspension?

If I answered "engine", then I'd choose between three general areas: intake, exhaust, headers.

If I answered "body and/or suspension" then I'd choose between an aero kit, rims, or possibly springs or coilovers.

From personal experience and observations I've noted that those are the general areas in which people "begin" modding their car. It may be way off from what you want! It really just depends on personal preference as aforementioned.

It all depends on your preferences. Some people don't like tints, some do. I have 16% and it's perfect for me. I upgraded my audio system by adding a 600watt sub to my setup and I'm loving it. Next up is suspension which will be TRD shocks, springs, and strut bar and Hotchkis sway bars. Figure out *what* you want to do to your car and then we'll start from there.

I think I'll go with the suspension.

There you go! just be aware that if you decide to go springs/struts, for a little more, you can get Tein Basics coilovers. For a few hundred over that, you can get Tein SSs.

Both of those will perform much better that springs/struts alone.

Basics usually run about $720, Superstreets about $1000.. or.. if you want to be elite like me and really break your bank you can go for the Superstreets with Pillowball uppermounts which will run you about $1150-1200; but offer the most dampening adjustability and overall ride comfort and performance!

...or, you could just go with springs and shocks :relief:

^^^exactly! when I bought my springs and struts, it was ~$400. But those deals don't exist anymore, and TRD springs and struts will cost you well into the $600 mark. For that price, coilovers are a *much* better option.

Now if you are just going to do springs, no strut replacement, that's a whole different story.
