I was just about to make a post asking for someone to post a sound clip! You read my mind! If you could, take a sound clip of it in steady rev, or driving by like that post of the carbon fiber air box.
Are you setting up short ram or cold air? I want to go turbo, but it will be awhile before I can, so I want to get the Injen intake in the mean time, but some people say it's real loud. I want to know how it will sound with the Injen exhaust.
Keep us posted.

LEt me tell you sitting in the car and revving is way differnt than driving it and hiting the gas. WHen u drive and stomp on it its is way deeper and sounds great. I have K&n but its the same hollow tube !

1) how hard is it to instal?
2) how much was it?
3) does it have a CARB number for smog/CA smog-legal?
4) will this do anything to my warrenty?

thanks for anyone who can answer!

Ok, let me answer your questions, cause I just finished my install last night.

1) Easy to install the SRI version. If you install the extra tube to make it CAI, it's a _____ to fit it through the hole in the frame. Will litterally take you hrs. just to get that through. Contrary to what anyone says, I couldn't manage to squeeze it in without scratching it some. Not worried though, cause where you scratch it, will be hidden by the body of the car.

2) average around $235 to $240ish.

3) It is smog legal, but not sure on the number. Even comes with an orange sticker on the instructions.

4) No

For now, I set it up for cold air. We will go trubo too, so that's why we won't be purchasing to many engine mods that will just get replaced by the intercooler and turbo. But the engine needed some grunt, and we wanted to be noticed as a modder, so that's the reason for the intake.

Here are a few pics I took during the installation, and a vid after everything was done.

Before install

My girl getting dirty too, removing the bolts from the bumper

Hours later

The was taken by my girls brother. I didn't bother to edit it on this go around. The intake is configured in CAI mode. I tested both SRI and CAI sounds when it was just sitting in the garage and being rev'd. The next vid for you guys and gals will be that of the intake in SRI mode. I have a feeling that it's going to sound louder than in CAI mode. Without further babble....the Video

Analysis:

At the beginning of the vid, I think something was loose, so therefore you couldn't hear anything going on. Then I checked my piping and connnections and restarted the engine, and Vroooommm.....

Ok, for you that don't have an intake, this thing can whistles loud enough to be mistaken for a BOV. Are they making intakes to sound more like turbo these days or what? Being that this is our first and only performance mod, I didn't really expect to feel to much of a gain. I only drove it a few blocks, I will have to drive it today to get a better assesment of the potential. I will say this though, for some reason it feels as if the engine is not constricted by the red line as much as before. Also, in CAI mode, when taking off in first gear, you hear the whistle of the intake but it's not deep, then every shift there after, when the RPM drops, the intake seems to just get mean with you, and you hear the whistle as you shift followed by a deep groan to which the groan gets louder/higher pitch when the RPM's increase. Like I said before, I will make another video when I convert it back to SRI mode, and see what the sound variance is. I have a feeling that it's going to be a bit louder in SRI mode. The neat thing about it is that if you are just cruzin, you don't get annoyed with the loud tone. It's pretty quite , that is until you step on it, then people are going to be like DAMN! One more note, I also have a 95 Rolla DX that has a SRI on it. When I start my Rolla, you can hear the intake sucking(especially on cold days) like a vaccum cleaner sounds. However, the Injen in CAI mode is so quite at idle, that you can't even tell it's there until you rev the engine and hear the SSSSIIISSH WOOOOOMMM!!!!. When I do a comparison to the SRI, I assume it's going to be like my Rolla, and have that vaccum suction sound upon start up.

I have something similar, a Injen retrofit SRI. The whistle is so loud it turn head! If I have time, I'll make a vid. The SHISSSSHHHHH is so intoxicating, I tend to step on the gas harder than I need to. I notice that it is louder in certain position of throttle too! I like to roll down the window in moderate speed, step on it, just to make that WHOOSHH! Every morning I get up excited just to get behind the wheel and drive to work. LOL. The engine sound is throaty and louder at high RPM, while it's nice can never beat the whistle. Note I have TRD exhaust. Please keep the video coming.

Sounds perfect! Now, is it just me, or what that video about a 3 minute clip followed by about 27 minutes of blue screen?

Are you going to try to get a shot with the camera standing still and the car driving by, so we can hear how it sounds from the outside while driving?
