can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two besides placement because i read somewhere that the placement of the cold air isnt much different when it comes to temperature than the short ram....also i was wondering about scion warranty policy concerning intakes and gains after installation

Short ram is better than the stock intake scion installs, but its still in the same place, where as a CAI takes its air from outside/below the car so the air is cooler so more of a performance gain. Intakes usually adds more high speed horse power rather than low since from a dead stop it takes time to get the air flowing, or so i hear. As far as warranty, i dunno. i think that adding certain performace parts voids the dealership warrently, but exacly how much you can mod before this happens, im not sure. best thing to do is call your dealer, they will fill you in. let me know too, im curious about this as well.

Yea Cold air is better for an engine which runs extremely hot by itself. and it also doesn't really kick in until around 3,000 RPM, which is better for top speed, except when the limiter kicks in at 127 :P

The only way you can void a warranty is if the dealer specifically states that the performance part was the cause of the failure. They have to prove it and put it in writting that the performance part was the cause of engine failure. Otherwise, performance parts do NOT void your warranty.

I like the cold air set-up better, I used to have it as a short ram, but decided to try the cold air, it's alot better to me.
