Has anyone tried mounting larger tires on the stock wheels?

If you have, what size did you go for?

No one has done this yet?

Well, if anyone tried mounting wider tire on the stock rim... Please let me know how it turned out...

I'm not putting larger tires on stock, but am going to put beefy tries on 15"x"8. I'll post pictures in a week or two when complete.

I'd like to, to get the cruise RPM down a bit and pick up a bit of ground clearance. I figure I can get away with about two inches in diameter.

Using the tirerack calculator I get:

stock: 23.7 in diameter.

A 205/65R15 tire will have an OD of 25.5, 1.8 inches more than stock. This tire would reduce the engine RPM by 7.5%, taking the 3000RPM at 60MPH down to 2775RPM. It would also have a bit more sidewall bulge, protecting the rims and hubcaps better than the stock tires.

Does that make it more dangerous in bad weather (ie:hydroplaning?) I like the idea of protecting the rims!
