Has anyone tried mounting larger tires on the stock wheels?
If you have, what size did you go for?

Torokun 03-10-2004, 05:06 PM No one has done this yet? Well, if anyone tried mounting wider tire on the stock rim... Please let me know how it turned out... Minsk99 03-11-2004, 07:26 AM I'm not putting larger tires on stock, but am going to put beefy tries on 15"x"8. I'll post pictures in a week or two when complete. Al-Truistic 03-11-2004, 07:37 AM I am thinking I will after the stock rubbers need to get changed... http://home.earthlink.net/~al_truistic/images/nezarts_2573.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~al_truistic/images/nezarts_2570.jpg  Torokun 03-11-2004, 07:53 PM i'm sorry... i didn't mean "larger" but, "wider" tire... George 03-11-2004, 10:06 PM Has anyone tried mounting larger tires on the stock wheels? If you have, what size did you go for? I'd like to, to get the cruise RPM down a bit and pick up a bit of ground clearance. I figure I can get away with about two inches in diameter. Using the tirerack calculator I get: stock: 23.7 in diameter. A 205/65R15 tire will have an OD of 25.5, 1.8 inches more than stock. This tire would reduce the engine RPM by 7.5%, taking the 3000RPM at 60MPH down to 2775RPM. It would also have a bit more sidewall bulge, protecting the rims and hubcaps better than the stock tires. George Al-Truistic 03-11-2004, 10:23 PM Does that make it more dangerous in bad weather (ie:hydroplaning?) I like the idea of protecting the rims! |
