I love the speedo in the middle- Its so much easier to look at when you're driving!

I think they did it so you would not have to take your eyes off the road.

I haven't a problem with it at all.

Just a little design swipe from the MINI, which has a huge one in the center of the dash.

Not much original in the xB. Design is stolen from a million different cars. Over a ton of decades. Japanese having been doing this for 35 years.

It just adds to the oddity factor.

I thnk the speedometer placement is great, and the dozens of people who have looked at my car agree. Beyond the uniqueness factor, the gauge is easier to read where it is.

Yes but the car the xB & xA is built on, the ECHO has it in the center also & the ECHO has been around before the new minis.

I drove my 88 Celica the other day and I couldn't get used to the gauges NOT being in the middle, Its so much nicer not having to move my hands and head to see my gauges, just turn my eyes for half an instant...

I bet it makes producing dashes cheaper? I mean if it's in the center then there's less changes between countries or something.

I think that's the whole deal, it keeps all of the wiring between left and right-hand drive the same, keeping the production costs down. I really like it in the middle, now I'm thinking of moding my '85 Ranger to center guages too.

Ehm, the bB has had center gauges since 98 or 99. The new minis came out at least a few years after that.

They're there because toyota put them there. It's a design choice. If you don't like it you have two options. First, you can get a different car. Barring that, you could mod your dash so it's behind the wheel.

We're not here to sell you a scion.

It's cool for us tall people cause on most cars when u tilt the wheel up, it sometimes blocks the guages.... usually the gas guage which u don't notice it's super low until you got like half a gallon left and your stuck in traffic 20 miles from the nearest gas station and you have a gas hog v-8 ....sorry bad memories of my firebird

Placement is great. I just wish it was a little larger.
