View Full Version : Issues with the projector low-beams
whipple81 07-02-2005, 05:19 AM So I bought some projectors...but the low beams suck ___...what is up with that? I didn't install my lights (the body shop did when they fixed everything, so they could line it all up) I am guessing they used the OE lights...is that my problem? all I know is that the low beams leave a lot to be desired...they are VERY dim...do I need to get HIDs? or is there another solution?? Any help would be appriciated!
clear_bra_guy 07-02-2005, 05:57 AM the low beam on the projectors suck add some Luminic bulbs and you will have a new appeciation for your lights.

aireck 07-02-2005, 07:03 AM just change out the bulbs....
some sylvania superstars would make a huge improvement!!
if you do get Luminics, get the hyper whites!!

firesquare 07-05-2005, 10:45 PM yup silver stars or those will do fine
TXboxdriver 07-05-2005, 11:36 PM i personally think the ability to AIM the beam would be really helpful
i would not recommend luminics if you are trying to IMPROVE your visibility. I guarantee if you get them your output would be even dimmer. What size is the lowbeam on the projectors?
FrankenScion 07-06-2005, 12:09 AM 9006...9005 for the highs.
the problem is not in your bulb. problem lies in the desisn of the projector. basically it sucks. The tC has a 9006 for a lowbeam and its pretty bright. You can try taking a 9005 bulb and modifying it to fit in the 9006 place.
slipknot490 07-06-2005, 12:21 AM hmmm

Thats funny, cause as soon as I changed out my bulbs with some Silverstars everything was cool.

i changed the 9006's with some silverstars and did not see any noticable difference in brightness, just pure white light...
FrankenScion 07-06-2005, 12:34 AM Mine increased considerably. I was actually getting to where I wouldnt drive at night.
But you don't have the projectors we are talking about either.
what kind of a bulb was in there to begin with? By that i mean what brand? Its just weird man cuz ive changed to silverstars in plently of vehicles and never really noticed to them to be brighter.
FrankenScion 07-06-2005, 12:40 AM The bulbs that come with these projectors are actually dangerous to drive with. I have no idea what brand they are though.

oh damn. were they by any chance the blue tinted ones?
johncal 07-06-2005, 12:48 AM Spend the big bucks and get the PIAA super plasma GT-X bulbs. They are blisteringly bright, blue tint and just plug them in....no _ickin' around. Costs $150 for the headlight AND foglight bulbs delivered but worth every penny.

FrankenScion 07-06-2005, 12:54 AM No they weren't blue, just crappy.........lol.
firesquare 07-06-2005, 02:02 AM if none of you like yours sell them to me LOL
FrankenScion 07-06-2005, 02:12 AM There are some in classifieds right now with Luminics.
whipple81 07-06-2005, 03:34 AM ok...bought the silverstars today to put in...then realized while attempting to replace the bulb that they are the small halegon clip in type...not at all like the OE bulbs...so I'm going to return the bulbs tomorrow and see what else I can come up with...I'll post a pic when I get home...
ThunderGod 07-06-2005, 06:30 AM are you talkin bout either H1(HI) or H3 (LO)?, cause thats what i have in my projectors.

aireck 07-06-2005, 06:48 AM those carry H4's??
i had the dual projectors and now im running HID's in my oem headrests....
hmmm... i might get a set of those single projectors and run my HID's in those... hmmm something to consider in the future.
whipple81 07-06-2005, 11:42 PM The lows use H3's...I have those same lights...heres what I found out when I took em apart...they ALREADY had the silverstars in there from the manufacturer, unless the numbers on the mounting plate of the bulb mean NOTHING...checked all markings, and they are 100% the same...so I'm guessin I'm just going to have to deal with my sh!tty low beams...I adjusted them a little bit, so they arent quite as bad...or I guess I could invest in an HID set-up :eyebrow:

J_A_Trevino 07-07-2005, 12:14 AM i had luminics and tried silver stars and was more impressed with the silver stars, but have been more impressed with my HID kit from techone.
aireck 07-07-2005, 10:50 AM so are the HIDs in the projectors really that good...
i love the HIDs in my stock headlights but i guess i would need to see them side by side to actually see the improvement.

whipple81 07-08-2005, 06:12 AM Here is my highs and lows now that I adjusted them a little better...the highs are good, they are philips bulbs...I'll have to check the watts n what not to see how they compare to the others...but the lows are already silverstars (come standard)
