Default xB roof is detachable?

One day I had a idea about swapping the roof of xb with other xb to make 2tone color.

is it possible?

I know shelby's xb has CF roof... is that covered over the stock or replaced?

anyone have any idea on this?

Er, there are the covered seams down both sides of the roofline, but those seams are welded to the best of my knowledge...

Here's Toyota's pic of the bB/xB unibody...

Painting is a better alternative for 2-tones.

Shelby's roof and hatch are handlaid CF on top of the OEM sheetmetal. The inside is a full CF headliner.

The way unibodies are designed, the roof is important to structural strength and intedgrity. Take off the roof and you take away the strength of the car's frame.

If you (or anyone) wants to chop the roof off an xB you will have to keep this in mind and strengthen the undercarriage by constructing some form of frame. I wouldn't say it is impossible. Frankly, I would love to see it. If I had another xB I would probably do it. I've done harder frame mods in the past. In fact, I can envision a sweet design for the xB...

Definately agree. Just paint it what color you'd like, it'd be a lot cheaper.

Wow! I never saw a pic of the top of his roof before. I always thought it was just painted. Kudos to you sir! Yes, I read the various threads on your healiner, that alone was sick, but now I think your car is xB of the year!

that roof is a CF cover...you can see how the front edge kinda sticks out a little.... he just did a lay-over in CF and then glued it to his roof.... Also you can see the ribs arent as thickly defined....so it shows the thickness of the CF cover alot more.... still BA if i say so my self...
