xA Driving light
Check my gallery to see the OPTRONICS QH75-IT driving lights I just installed the other day installed on my xA 2.0. Got them at Walmart....only $20 bucks. I couldn't believe the quality was that good. Usually they just sell cheap looking stuff, but these are very nice and they JUST fit.
I actually bought a second set, because you never know if you'll find them again if something happened to them. Heck, for 20 bucks it's worth it if for no other reason than for the replacement bulbs. Nice to have the spare parts. Total cost with relay $47 dollars.
They are 55 watt, cast black metal housings with glass lenses and blue tinted bulbs.
I hooked mine up via a relay. +12 from the battery, thru a fuse and connected both to the relay coil and relay contact. The other side of the relay contact to the + of the driving light bulbs. Both bulb's - is grounded to the chassis. The - side of the relay coil is in line crimped to the yellow/black wire from the drivers side headlamp unit. This is the ground of the high beam of the headlamp. Toyota leaves the +12 volts on all of the time and switches the ground on and off to either filament.
The driving lights come on automatically with the high beams just as the fogs do with the lows. I will be adding a toggle swith in line with the headlamp to coil wire next week so I can bypass them off just as you can with the factory fogs.
Have fun trying to figure out how to mount them. It wasn't easy but it looks factory. It's too hard to explain how to do it, but you will need to cut some of the plastic. The mounting brackets should face up.
You're on your own. If you screw it up, don't blame me....sorry.
They just miss the grill by 1/16" so I wouldn't leave them on while standing still for too long. However I did do just that for 10 minutes to test things out and had no problems melting anything. Again, you're on your own there.
It definitely fills in the massive void inside the upper grill area.
You'll also notice I Black spiral wrapped that ugly aluminum A.C. tubing and painted the fixtures.
The driving lights add a ton of light about 30-80 ft. in front of the car and generally brighten everything else up as well.

P.S. If anyone knows how to get one of those pictures with the driving lights into this thread feel free. I can't figure out how to do it. Carving up the car is easy, figuring out computers is not....at least for us old farts.

I love this setup... A guy I know did upper fogs on his tC and posted pics on here.
I want to do an aftermarket set on my xB, but I'm not sure of a good mounting point. I'm gonna remove the bumper when I have a free weekend and look for a good stealthy spot to mount them.
Yours looks great, man!
Peace.
