View Full Version : Umnitza intake, anyone got one?
SSMtC05 07-11-2005, 12:26 AM I was just wondering if anyone stepped up and bought the umnitza carbon fiber intake yet, i saw the video and liked the sound and was just wondering if anyone bought one yet. If you have please post comments on how you like it or dislike it and anything else you might like to add.
Thanks Jay
cfusionpm 07-11-2005, 08:07 AM i'd like to know as well. i love the sound it makes, but for almost the same price, i could get full a K&N or injen cai off ebay or something, and this just looks like an airbox replacement. dunno if its worth the price. maybe they could offer a similar thing made of alluminum, or even plastic at a much reduced price. i honestly cant see why carbon fiber needs to be used other than to "look cool."
TurboMe 07-11-2005, 08:14 AM whats the price quote on those?
heyitznosaj 07-11-2005, 08:15 AM a dyno and a serious price reduction will convince me to buy one. 200 bucks for a piece of carbon fiber and a filter? umnitza is a reputable company though im sure they do something about it.
tckurt 07-24-2005, 09:23 PM Well molded Carbon fiber is expensive... anywho I ordered mine today so I'll let you know how it is.
Schuller 07-25-2005, 03:30 PM I installed mine Saturday. Sounds great. Only load at highest rpms. Deep sounding. Looks great. Easy install.
peteyd 07-25-2005, 04:50 PM any power gains???

CF probably doesn’t conduct heat like aluminum does, which in this case, is a huge plus. I'm considering the Umnitza and Volant for that very reason, they're not made of metal which should help alleviate heat soak significantly. The WR SW has a cold air box, but, unfortunately, only the filter is covered up so the piping is still exposed.
As for the pricing, if it produces the same or better gains as the other intakes then I'd have no problem buying it since it's about the same price.

No dyno from Umnitza but gained 6-8whp on a Mazda3. Engine is definately getting more air and probably 5 whp. Looks and sounds great.

GOT ONE LOVE IT
tone is awsome and yeah there is no need for it to be CF other than it looks cool SFW
Why does it make my trd exhaust whistle?
Oh yeah heat soak.I was just going to say that
Schuller 07-27-2005, 06:23 PM No whistle anywhere from my exhaust or intake but the intake does snarl and growl. Sure its your exhaust and not a air leak in the intake?

Why does it make my trd exhaust whistle?
No ,its not a leak, my trd exhaust made it prior to having the intake when i pressed hard on the acc but its alittle more emphisised mid range now.
just wondered if the engine breathing better had amplified the whistle?and if anyone else has asimilar low whistle occasionally from there trd exhaust
TRD_SSM_tC 08-14-2005, 02:59 AM The filter is a cone filter right? is it possible to replace it with other brands such as HKS, Apexi or Blitz?
lilitaliankid 08-14-2005, 04:56 AM UGH
omg i want one
cai, from what i heard, can ruin you car if you hit a puddle or water. I definetly dont need that type of worry
The problem is the price. I paid $139 with free shipping for my Mazda 3 Umnitza... This was only a few weeks ago. I don't know why the TC version is so costly.
PS. This isn't my login.... John! You need to log out on my computer!
SidePocketKid 09-18-2005, 08:54 PM sheesh 289 for it is a bit hefty...

Absolutely not! It can be cleaned though.
Bavtoys 09-20-2005, 08:28 AM Problem is Simota forced us to raise our "public" prices:)
Call us for best prices ;) 925 922 5777
They are coming off the boat on Sept 22nd:)
Bavtoys 09-21-2005, 12:10 AM of what? there are pictures on first part of this thread no?
SSM_tC 09-21-2005, 12:37 AM Almost there... almost there.... Almost the 22nd...
I swear, I feel like a kid on Christmas.
TRD_SSM_tC 09-22-2005, 04:16 AM Yay! it is sept 22! our intakes should be arriving today as told by the guys at umnitza! I cant wait
SSM_tC 09-22-2005, 04:47 AM bah.... still gotta wait for UPS to drop it off =\
TRD_SSM_tC 09-22-2005, 06:11 AM ya that is true.. but at least knowing the fact that it is here and ready to be shipped makes me feel really excited! Nothing is more exciting than finally going to recieve something you have been waiting for for a long time in my opinion. Btw, guys at Umnitza told me that once they recieve the shipment they will overnight the intakes to us who have ordered them, is that what they said to all of you too?
SSM_tC 09-22-2005, 01:46 PM Hmm... I wasn't told that ...
it would be a very pleasant surprise, but I'm not gettin gmy hopes up, rather not get disappointed.
