Default tC or Mazda 6?

A friend of mine just bought an '05 Mazda 6 and has to leave the country and wants to sell it. he's had it for about 3 months and it would cost me 23k. it's about 4k more than the tC which is one issue. second, I'm not too familiar with 6's, but I've heard good things and they're almost a foot longer than the tC
so there would be more room. I'd rather have the tC, but i could help a friend and it's loaded. leather int, etc. any info on why or why not to consider the 6? my mind is pretty much set on the tC... about 85%. I hope this doesn't seem like blasphemy coming on a tC board.

Thanx in advance.

6s are pretty nice I'm told. Bit out of my range when I was making my purch. I wouldn't drive a car backed by ford motor corp though

Here some solid advice my friend. I own a Mazda 3 and it's a helluva lot cheaper to own my tC. Mazda= big dollars for parts.!!!! Plus dealer labor is unimaginably high

Its also gonna cost you more for insurance to own a 6 because of parts to repair in case of an accident..
try this on for size my insurance for my tC was 275 vs 315 dollars for the Mazda 6 which I was thinking about buying plus Mazda is an undercover Ford so lets not go there

Because that was one of the deciding factors that helped me by a tC . Mazda also has a serious reliability problem. i know this because I owned a Millenia it broke down a lot.

The choice is yours ultimately if anything i would probably look closer and the new line of GM cars coming out because you'd probably get a bigger bang for your dollar there especially with a Saab 9^3 linear or Aero

Go where ya money takes ya is my advice!!!!!!!

I don't know how much mazda parts cost but my rear quarter panel was really ____ed up on the tC, a replacement panel was only $500.

Your asking people on a Scion (tC) forum. If I were you I'd expect everyone to say tC.
And I'd expect everyone on a Mazda forum to say 6 but one less tC on the road the better for me.
I hope tCs don't become Civics and RSXs. I'm tired of seeing those on the road.

consider that cheap. last time i checked for a rear quarter panel for a mazda not the aftermarket crap it was like 1200 bucks so you can easily see the difference in price. an oil filter for my mazda 3 was 80 bucks because their isnt a oem equivalent!!!mazda parts are hard to get sometimes is what i found.

there is a difference in horsepower+ handling though and the mazda 6 would kill a tc without even blinking. i actually test drove the car with the salesman in it when i was shopping a couple of months ago and the 6 felt great but after jsut going through a terrible experience with my millenia i said to hell with mazda.. so i i hit the infiniti dealership to test drive the g35 and i had the cash to buy half of the car but the insurance was like 600 dollars a month so i said i will wait a while before i will but a g35 because i cant afford the insurance but i can afford the car though at least thats what im been telling myself for the past 2 or 3 months.

Before I bought my tC, I asked my mechanic about Mazdas. He didn't like them; actually said they were difficult to work on and many mechanics didn't want to bother with them.

look at it this way youll save alot of money on your tc because is really easy to work on becuase you can reach about every part on the car especally the starter+ alternator etc...

If you don't get in accidents a lot, the 3 and 6 have excellent suspension tuning.

The tC is a little less European feeling but the 3 and the tC are very evenly matched. A 6 though, I'm not so sure. I would, obviously, go for the tC for being less expensive and smaller. But as far as everything else, looks and handling I really can't easily choose.

I would say get the tC. If you are willing to spend $23k, I would go for a Type S, or a WRX instead of the 6. Just my preference though.

0ranges ^^ I must say the 6 is a very impressive car. My cousin has one. Great styling and not bad for the price even though its a bit out of my price range. If utility if what you're looking while still retaining great over all performance go with the 6. I was told that the 6 was very unstable when full of people. Its floaty and feels like its on the verge of losing control. Maybe mazda fixed that problem and im sure it could be taken care of with aftermarket suspension. Im very content with the tC abd as Fixtion says, apples and oranges.

Oh yea you should realy consider the Type S. I got a ride in it on omg i love the car. Fast, great handling, comfy interior, good styling, reliable, and the ability to tune that k20 into the ultimate N/A monster. If you are looking for a car than will be tons of fun for years to come definetly look into the Type S. The WRX would be great too if gas milage isnt a concern to you.

Dont know the pricing of the 6 but...

The v6 mazda 6 has a ford motor and trans, where as the 4 doesnt.
So if its the 4 banger go with it or get a WRX.

the mazda 6 is a pretty looking jap sedan (are they made in japan) but the tC is a cool coupe too. it all depends on what your needs are. i would love to have the V6 but i like the tC because its a toyota.

^^ the wrx is a better buy i think for the turbo and 4 dors and AWD

after seeing the ford part under the hood, i think that seals the deal for me. like i said, the tc was pretty much a wrap for me, but i got this offer recently, so i thought i'd at least pursue it. flint mica, here i come. thanks for the replies and insight.

One of my best friends has an auto v6 mazda 6 with everything in it (THANKS DADDY)

He also has a baby seat in the back and a 18 monthkid who smashes cookies into the leather at every chance

Its a sporty family car and with the auto box in it I am all over him (tc manual gears are so low)

Its been in the shop a few times but so has my tc.

24k is a good price but 24 would get you a tc and a package from zero point industries

Hard choice my friend

Choose wisely or repent at your leisure

There are 2 models of the mazda 6 the 4 cylinder (Mazda6i) and then theres the V6 one. Which one are you considering ? My best friend drives the mazda 6i, which I find looks alot nicer/classier but DAMN its slow. I would pick the TC over the Mazda6i, but I would definitely pick the v6 mazda 6 over the TC

yeah i know its apple to oranges but the close in price ranges so you have to make that comparison. i think a better comparison would be if your considering a sedan is a saab 9^3 aero vs mazda 6 .theres a solid pound for pound compaison
