New Owner!!!
Good purchase, 2005 XB? Update your profile. If it is a 2006, you may have a cabin air filter in the tray behind the glove box. If 2004 or 2005 your tray is empty. The dealer sells one for $23. Go to autozone or advanced and get one for $12. See the tech section for a thread about fabrication and installation of a cabin air filter. Replace it every 15 to 20 thousand miles. It greatly reduces the amount of dust that lands on your dashboard.

And I am streching the limit on the recomended change intervial. Mine will be changed at 20,000. I also decided to do my 15,000 maintenance stuff at 20,000 miles. Will do the oil change, will rotate the tires and I will do all those things that I can do.

Oops, you're right. I saw the procedure for cleaning the filter in the manual (page 10
and just took from that that there's a filter.
But no, the tray's there but no filter. I should have looked before saying anything.
I wonder if you couldn't just cut a piece of foam AC filter material and put it in the tray, like you'd use in a home window air conditioner?

Yes there is a tray for a CABIN AIR FILTER behind the glove box. Many alergic people have modified the filter to help thier alergies. Go to the tech section and read a thread called Air Cabin Filter Fabrication. Click on the photos and see how some wrap the filter in dryer sheets. Dealer wants $22 for one, goto advanced or autozone and get it for $12.
