So here I am minding my own business and this Eclipse GT starts playing around. I could tell this is a "my ego is bigger than yours" kind of guy (captain douchebag, as I would usually call the type), so I play around. I know he has a GT and I don't have too much of a chance against a V6. So I don't really care.

Anyways... he passes me as we're going over this bridge and I notice that his rear end is literally bouncing about 3 or 4 inches of travel. Not just one or two and then settling (it was a smooth bridge). But it's just a continual bounce with any road imperfection. My tC, however, is smoothly cruising along with no bounce what so ever.

So we get up to a light and he pulls up next to me and I said "looks like you're bouncing a lot" ... so he replies ... "ya, i've got coilvers."

"Oh, really?" I said.
I left it at that b/c I was too busy laughing.

Then he tried to take me off the light and did the "i'm holding up a three b/c i'm in 3rd gear with my v6 as i'm passing you" ... bouncing all of the way.

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time and wanted to share.

That was probably more then coil overs, that might have been
coil overs with blown shocks/struts.

 

I was thinking a set of cut springs with blown shocks maybe? Likely not anything aftermarket unless it was horribly defective.

 

busted tuning...

i thought that car tuning was a sport that you did things that are good for your car... not cutting stock cpings and blowing out you shocks...

 

From his response it sounded like he thought it was supposed to do that. Like it was somehow making his car better by bouncing like a trampoline! That was the best part.

I see that all the time in Nashville, TN. All the poor people just cut their springs instead of putting the pennies away to get a real suspension.

 

v6 eclipse is nothing...

our TC's can take them out in everyway.

well through my experiences, i havent lost to a v6 eclipse yet

 

i know last years we can hang with but im sure the new ones would walk all over us to bad they look like a hot wheel

 

GS has 162hps/tq with curb weight around 3250
GT has 263/260 wt around 3500. Thing is a pig.

 

were at 2950.... with 160hp 162tq

 

between a tc and any older gt, it would be close
