Best way to install? Get a good set of projector housings... pay for a quality set of HID bulbs with the ballasts and all the goodies and for gods sake, do it right.

Please don't go buying any ebay "HID kit" or anything. Just either spend the money to do it right (retrofitting is expensive) or just wait until someone comes out with a good projector housing for us.

get a set of projectors.... thats the only real way. i cant stand the idiots that get hids and put them in stock housings. all they do is blind people while driving at night.

i sugest you wait until a decently priced light kit comes out.

That's the kind of kit we're suggesting not to get... at least, not without a good set of projector housings - after you get that squared away, I'm sure this is a great set.

do it right or dont do it. this is why the NTSB pulled ALL HID retro fit kits off the market because you cant and shouldnt put HIDs in a headlamp not make for HIDS.

This is how you GIT R DONE https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=73060

retrofit is illegal also... and not all "ebay kits" blind people. that is a general statement no one can really say. have you tried all of these kits?? some kits work great because the arc is in the same orientation as the stock halogen (in this case our low beams are in the same orientation) but with bulbs like H4's where the filament is in the opposite direction (H4's are common in many cars including most civics). the trick is getting a HID bulb that is rebased so that the filament is within the guidelines of the type of bulb one is trying to replace. i just hate it how everyone assumes these kits will blind people when they have never seen them on a tC or on the car they are talking about.

anyways to answer your question, i hear the official mcculloch kit is very good. they are expensive but i hear they are very reliable. i think someone sells them on this board but im not 100% sure, maybe a search could help??

Have you see them all to know they don't blind people? I didn't think so. It's best to avoid ANY kit at this point because none of them are really made to go in a stock housing - no matter what they say.

Well, I can tell a car that is supposed to have HID's to a car that shouldn't. It's annoying enough the number of knuckleheads that drive with their brights on AND the people that have HID's that don't belong. Best thing is to build a a reflector that creates the eyeline.

We use a 6000K kit from www.hidplace.coma nd couldnt be happier with the output of the light. We also have our blue headlight protection on there as well.

not all hid kits w/o projectors blind ppl. its just some people dont lower the angle of how the light shines that blinds ppl. my bro has a hella 8000k hid kit with no projectors on his rsx. great light output and doesnt blind the people on the streets. i would know because i always see him in my rear view mirror (if u know what i mean :-D). he angles the light low enough so that it doesnt go blinding ppl on the streets. so if you want to get HIDs without projectors, be sure to angle the beam low enough. and all this talk about you have to get projectors with HIDs is just your opinion. i plan on getting HIDs in the near future. i would like to do a retro like integsrtite..that is awesome..but look how much money he put into it. some people either dont have that kind of money to do the nice retros or they just feel that putting nearly $1000 into headlights is jus not worth it. thats 1/3 of a zpi stage 0 kit. so with that said, if your going to do HIDs without projectors, angle the beam lower. and theres a sponsor for this website. they sell techone HID kits of a variety of brightness (6000k, 8000k, etc.) for $250 shipped. thats what i plan on getting unless i could find a better deal. comes with a warranty (1 year i think) and plenty of ppl on this forum have bought it and i havent seen one complaint of it yet.

fro the money spent on HID's and a retrofit, why not source DC5-R headlites? Right eyeline and built in HID's.

well in response to the first post.

1) it is fairly easy. you just have to be careful.

2) 15min to connect everything. couple hours to find a suitable spot for the ballast and securely tie it down.

3) i think anything from 4300k-5000k will produce the whitest (oem) most visable lighting. anything higher will look aftermarket. blue->purple and reduce visability.

4)i dunno which one is the best. i wrote an install guide for the tc using the techone kit here. DIY for tC
