View Full Version : how do i get my car out of safe mode? Souljah347 07-17-2005, 08:45 PM well i got my AW header installed, and now i'm stuck in safe mode. does anyone have any idea how to get ride of it. i'll try reseting the ECU again. HondaKiller 07-17-2005, 08:48 PM how do you know your in safe mode? Souljah347 07-17-2005, 08:49 PM because i can't rev past past like 2.5k matty-tC 07-17-2005, 09:53 PM something isn't right go to the dealership LucidBD 07-17-2005, 09:57 PM go to dealer ship...in slow-mo. sry to hear. didnt know there was safe mode Souljah347 07-17-2005, 10:06 PM well they fix my problem even though i have the header installed? Tomas 07-17-2005, 10:24 PM Huh! There IS a 'Fail Safe' mode for the ECU - Here's a reference to it from the Service manual... http://tijil.org/ECU_Fail_Safe.jpg I suspect the service manual has a lot more about how the ECU gets INTO Fail Safe mode, and how to get out. Sounds like the service manuals might be a good investment for folks modding their vehicles... *hint* :) Souljah347 07-17-2005, 10:46 PM so know one knows how to get it out of "fail safe" mode huh? i guess i have to take it to the dealer tomorrow reagulator 07-18-2005, 06:24 AM have you tried disconnecting the battery matty-tC 07-18-2005, 12:53 PM disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for 5 minutes or so. Souljah347 07-18-2005, 05:52 PM i'v tried that a few times. it's at the dealership now. matty-tC 07-18-2005, 05:58 PM let us know how it goes. Souljah347 07-18-2005, 06:15 PM will do. it was very humid outside when i did it. i'm thinking maybe the o2 got moist or something. the only thing i can think of that could have caused this problem is the o2, but we'll see. apexjr 07-18-2005, 06:47 PM Maybe the plug for the O2 was loose or a wire slipped out of a pin, *shrug*. A wet O2 would be wet for about 2 seconds after the engine fired up. ;) Souljah347 07-18-2005, 10:58 PM just got back from the dealership, it was my MAFS. is there anyway my injen intake in combination with the AW header messed this up? i can't see how, but i figured better safe then sorry and ask engifineer 07-18-2005, 11:01 PM Did they need to replace it? If so, I would suspect that it was damaged during install of the intake. The CAI and header should not have caused its demise. Souljah347 07-18-2005, 11:03 PM yeah, they replaced it. and i don't think it was damaged during the install of the intake because the intake has been on for about 2 months now acasanova 07-18-2005, 11:34 PM yeah, they replaced it. and i don't think it was damaged during the install of the intake because the intake has been on for about 2 months now Might have been a dirty MAF did they specify what was wrong with it. If so im starting to think the K&N indeed lets through too much dirt. HawkINX4 07-18-2005, 11:41 PM i was just about to say that... check your MAF.. i doubt it was messed up.. it was probably loose but still looked like it was attached.. it has to be plugged in completely.. did they charge you anything? if you disconnect it actually goes in to LIMP mode.. not able to rev pass a certain RPM.. my old ___ car had them.. luckily you found out before i told ya lol Gortok 07-18-2005, 11:48 PM I've seen a number of MAF problems lately (3 or 4 in the past year) resulting from K&N filter media getting hung up in the sensor. It's like lint...real fine cloth...and it fouls the sensor. Souljah347 07-19-2005, 03:34 AM so i should be ok if i reinstall the AW header? i just want to make sure it's not a problem with the combo or aw header and injen intake (short ram setup) acasanova 07-19-2005, 04:12 AM so i should be ok if i reinstall the AW header? i just want to make sure it's not a problem with the combo or aw header and injen intake (short ram setup) Yes it will be ok, just be careful with the threads now that you removed and installed a 2nd header..good luck. matty-tC 07-19-2005, 04:14 PM definitely reinstall it Souljah347 07-19-2005, 08:20 PM thanks fo the help guys i'll reinstall the header |
