Default Anyone had any problems with their windows?

Has anyone had any problems with their windows not wanting to work?

I found this out the hard way, when I got into the vehicle after coming out of the hospital on a very hot day. Ever since my Step Dad rode in my scion xb that is all he talks about. So, before I head out of the parking lot, I drive it around and wave to him. I got to drive around, but never could get the windows to go down, so I could wave. I'm back home now, and trying to figure out what is the matter.

I'm honestly not trying to insult you or make you sound stupid, but you did make sure the window lock switch wasn't on....right?

Thanks. The first time I took it into the dealer, because they wouldn't let me install my fog lights, tail lights and other odds and ends, saying it was b/c of warranty; they scratched my front skirt up and didn't tell me. Nice. Needless to say, they have a new skirt on order.

Thanks for all your help. Just had to open and shut the hood?????? Then, they work now???????

Do you have in-channel vent visors? They could be putting extra pressure on the windows. I know, it's a long shot. Did your switches get wet? It's common for water on the roof to pour right on them with windows down when you first get going. That's all I can think of, aside from the fuse.

dealer acessories? their yanking your chain, sounds like you need to go to another dealer pronto

when they install factory equiptment at anytime of your ownership, it is covered for the remainder of your car warranty, extended or not.

call scion and tell them your dealer is giving you a hard rime about your accessories

then get back to us on your window issue

Nope. If he was better, he'd buy a scion xb he said (to replace his Lincoln towncar).

Well, I guess opening the hood and closing it wasn't the trick, you know like your sick so you head to the Drs. type thing, then all of a sudden your 100% better? I came out to go to work this morning and they won't work again. So, I guess I'll have to pop that hood open again. I hope my a/c doesn't break, I'll be hot!

Yes, I knew they were yanking my chain. It all started when they couldn't get me in until the next week, being a Friday, I wanted to just get the parts and put them on myself. They went into this warranty lecture. It will void the warranty if I install them. So, your telling me that they warranty the light bulb in the rear tail lights? Because I knew if something was wrong with the taillights you can return them for unexposed damage within the box.

They lectured more about how hard it was to install them. I told them I didn't mind, I had done it many times before. They lectured more, so, I caved just to shut them up. I think that could be why my skirt got messed up. (You know like spit in your food after complaining?). This was probably 3-4 weeks ago, I think I'll give them a call and see why my skirt hasn't come in yet. Now, back to my windows.....

They are lecturing you on how hard it is to install a set of aftermarket tail lights?? What a joke these guys are and they must be retards as well. all you have to do is remove the access panel that has two little clips and then you need to unhook the plug that goes to the tail lights and then you need a 10mm socket and rmove the two bolts holding the tail lights on. Then just be careful when pulling the lights out so you don't scratch the paint. I would put some 3m blue tape around the edges of the lights so you don't scratch the paint at all.

Sounds to me like you need to find another dealer to go to. since they are treating you the way they are.

Yes. I guess they don't think girls know anything about cars. I told him I had helped (key word here) change a rear main oil seal and he got smart with me. He asked if I had taken out the engine or the transmission to do that? I was nice I told him the transmission, he was dumb founded after that, the poor guy.

Back to the windows........On this trip, I tempted to use my fog lights, I decided to quickly cut them off, b/c the dealer installed them, who knows the engine will probably blow up. I decided to wait until I was around home to use them. I didn't use my windows at all until coming out of the hospital. a little more info: since they installed the fog lights, I have had no problems with the windows, but have read that other people did. When I got home opened the hood/close, they worked. But then this morning they didn't. Doesn't sound like a fuse problem. They would not have worked. Anyone got any ideas, besides going to the dealer?

Doesn't get to me at all. Nothing is worth that, talking from experience on a major car fraud with a major, major, major manufacturer. Leave it to me to stand up to them. Did it for a little under two years, the stress involved is too much. And not to mention the money you have to fork out to stand up for yourself. No lawyer would stand up against them for free. I know.......

See my post on the update.

Im not a electrical technician but... perhaps they installed that jumper fuse in the wrong block? Im just guessing seeing that I had a really tough time installing that fuse to the pannel. 2hrs was dedicated to putting that thing on the pannel, and 10mins was dedicated for the foglights.

As for the windows, I've recently noticed that my front passenger window would get stuck sometimes. But lately it's been going down smooth.

And yes, you better just move to a different dealership. Just as long you keep your original parts, you technically don't void warranty because you can always put them back so that the Toyota tech's don't get up all in your grill. Unless you put NOs...like someone did in this site hehe no offense but his engine got messed up : (
