View Full Version : Carbon fiber hood question...
Super_Scion 07-19-2005, 05:22 AM Ok My hood is really badly messed up and will cost 900 dollars for a new one and to get it painted so its cheaper to go with carbon fiber. I have an IIP and was wondering if anyone has any pics of that car with a carbon fiber hood and how they think it looks.
Also is there a website where I can purchase it? Thanks
VoLktc 07-19-2005, 05:35 AM www.racingsolution.com if you dont like it you can always paint the cf hood
Super_Scion 07-19-2005, 05:38 AM Yea thanks, too expensive for me to paint though thats why I don't want to get a new hood painted.
lildreamah 07-19-2005, 05:51 AM bbist has a nice double sidede cf hood for the tc. They've also got a trunk if u're interested down the line.

Found bbist, this is it right? http://www.bbist.com/index.html

FlintM05tc 07-19-2005, 12:13 PM I had the same dillema a few months back, found a company that had an O.E.M. carbon fiber hood for $479 shipping included.
Good deal right! WRONG, when it arrived at my job 3 weeks later it had chips and cracks in the coating, my biggest mistake was not first reading the FAQ from the website I purchased it from, and after the fact found out that most websites do not take responcibility for damages that can occur in transit.
I am not the only one this has happened to, several others have private messaged me with the same issue.
Be very cautious were you purchase the hood, and if possible get it locally to avoid potential problems and if not make sure that the company you purchase it from insures it.

Oh I see. That sucks. Is the CF not as strong as the regular hood then? Also how reliable is that site the person above listed because I may do that.
Super_Scion 07-20-2005, 12:27 AM Any other sites or is racing solutions good and reliable. I also found this http://www.importprecision.com/carbon_fiber_hoods/carbon_fiber_hood_mainlist.htm
Thanks.
glitterboy 07-20-2005, 01:48 AM I haven't seen that many CF hoods with the windshield wiping fluid jets... do they exist?
Super_Scion 07-20-2005, 01:53 AM Thats what the site said. Is there a picture of an IIP tC with a CF hood? It would help a lot.
glitterboy 07-20-2005, 02:02 AM In Illinois where it snows pretty bad and the salt makes it hard to see sometimes, those jets are key.
VoLktc 07-20-2005, 05:41 AM as far as i know bbist is MIA. i ordered a hood and trunk through robear and got the hood (cracks from shipping @*#$*@#) but they could never get ahold of bbist for the trunk so i finally had to cancel my order
krazykustomz 07-24-2005, 08:02 AM On any order you guys make for aero styling parts from any vendor make sure to inspect the package when it's delivered before you sign for it.
The freight companies often will decline the insurance if you sign for it and do not note any damages. We sugest opening all shipments prior to signing the bill of laden and if something is damaged have the driver note on the paperwork. This will cover you 100% of the time and expedite any claims.
RockBlocker 07-24-2005, 11:16 PM Here is CF with IIP. I love my hood even if needs some tweaking on the alignment part. It has the washer insert holes as well. Just havent put them in yet. We also wrapped the whole hood in a one-piece clear bra for UV protection.

pillage 07-25-2005, 03:05 AM that car looks nice
Magnus213 07-25-2005, 03:58 AM Rockblocker, could you post some close-up pictures of the front CF splitter? I saw your other picturs in the IIP cult thread, but the lightning wasn't too good to see all the detail.
joolie 07-28-2005, 12:34 AM theres a thread when you go to forums, classifieds, and sponsored sales...there a bunch of threads for carbon fiber hoods w/ pictures...check em out
I'm guessing that there are no windshield fluid dispenser jets on CF hoods because its all for looks and not practicality??
