Everyone seems to hesitate when thinking about cutting a hole in the RS1's roof. I know I am, but there is no other way.

I saw an xB with dual roofs Friday, Off the chain :!:

We offer it: Dual Spoiler Sunroof w/ Top Slider & Sun Shade = $1,695.00 / $1,595.00 w/o Sun Shade

As long as the sunroof job is done right, it should be pimp... They don't have a sunroof option that slides into the roof?

I am not sure about a dual roof, but if you call a couple of high end audio and stereo places, some do sunroofs. If they are certified they do a good job. I was looking at one, and most places dont charge more than like 800 to put in a power slide and tilt single plane sunroof.

We've got a moonroof on our project car...super clean install and it works great. No regrets.

I'm looking into a group buy for some of the Scion Evo guys tomorrow...I'll let you know what's up.

ya, do it if you want to kill the resale value of your box - it's a special edition, you shouldn't put ANY holes in it imho!

question:
does the glass slide back or does it just pop up? if just pops up and doesn't slide back then don't add it.

i would add it if it was a moonroof. then there is the commet besk one said about it being a limited edition. limited editions normally should go without any mods to keep the value up.

i really don't think there is gonna be much resale value on these vehicles. i mean comon were not talking about a classic vette these are just econoboxes. i may be wrong but i just don't see there being a big collector car demand for the xb in the future.

I dont think that they will be worth alot but I am sure it will hold its value... I had a Galant vr4, turbo AWD same as a ecliupse but in 4 doors and it sold for a hell of a lot more then an eclipse in the same shape and mileage, I know this is a bit different but I still wanna put a sun roof in ours!

I got a sunroof and I love it!

Check out my profile, I have a pic of it and where I had them put the buttons for it.

Good luck!

I think it would be dope to have dual sun roofs! The rear passengers are out of reach of my sunroof, unless they lean forward.

the resale value will be far more then a normal xB. it is that way with any limited edition car.

maybe so but if you check our forum most people have hella miles on their xb's already and they haven't even been released a year. add to that nobody on here except maybe a few have even left their cars stock. these are all important points related to collector cars. they must stay in stock form, and should have very few miles, in order for them to have value to collectors. i could go on for days about this but the point is that these cars are not gonna be worth squat to alota people. only to a few and don't expect to retire off of what you sale it for.

low miles is definately a determining factor to value. as for mods, it can go either way. if it has all trd related options then it might work, but we just don't know yet. if a rs1.0 gets modded to hell, then it won't keep its value. you make some good points there that i didn't even really stop to think about.

i will be honest with you and say that for myself, i only got the rs1 for the color and the value. i wanted the xb b/f but thought the avail. colors were boring. so when i saw that they offered the hot lava i was sold. i don't intend to collect this car, resale this car for profit, or anything of that sort, just mod the hell out of it and enjoy the benfits of owning a badass wip.

Is it worth getting one in you state? Im not trying to be a smartass....Ive never been there in the winter. Id think about here....but it was 80+ degrees here today . Id rather not have a sunroof if snow piled up on it and I could only use it 1/4 of the year.

If you think that a bright orange car is going to hold its value, you're wrong. Limited edition or not, weird colors dont hold their value. Don't get me wrong, I love it but dont think orange = investment.

excuse me but i could think of alota strang color cars that are collectors items. it seems like back in the day dodge was making some ugly ___ colors but now they are worth hella cash. examples VW's, Chargers, Camero's, Vette. the list goes on get your hands on any of those cars ( which came in orange except for the Vette i think) and you can retire, send yo kids to college and then by a xb with cash. the color is not the rs1 downfall its the fact that 1. econobox 2. most will not stay stock 3. there will be alota inexperienced modders doing mods (and hell with all the lights that people are installing a few will prob. catch fire) and you can't get paid that way.

just my 2 cents

OMG the scion well never compare to a old muscle car i cant believe you even brought that up. Go talk to people in the car business bright colors like yellow, orange or whatever don't resale very well. Who cares if its a "Limited Edition" Come on its really not that special only what like 900 more than a normal scion. I say go with a sun roof if you like it. I wouldn't worry to much about the limited edition cause that isn't really going to mean anything in 4 years from now anyways

were you talking to me? b/c i was just making a point that bright colors doesn't necessarally hurt resale. and so you don't think i'm just agreeing with you i posted above that these cars are not special and their not classic muscle cars. so people can't really expect to more money off the car than they bought it for.

10 years from now these cars wont be worth a dime. But if somehow they become a classic (30 years old) or even an antique (40+ years) they may be worth something. The color will be a factor, but more becuase of the limited edition. Any parts that are not factory, or in the case of this car, original purchase items could hurt their value, this is why i had a ton of parts ordered at initial sale. But if i get the money, i will probably put one in, i barely use airconditioning in any car as it just kills the mileage on my current car, and thats why there are windows on the car.

And if you dont think bright colors hurt resale value ask a mazda dealer why they dont sell the mazda 6 in yellow anymore... recent cars in yellow and similiar are a tough resale and sometime can lower the trade in value at the dealer. Not that a green or yellow old camaro is a lower resale, just a tough sell on a 1999 yellow ford focus.

I wouldn't do it since it was my dealer who talked me out of it. Word from Japan was that they've had problems with it and plus the dude that does sunroofs for my dealer (with over 35 years experience in special glass mods) does not suggest it as well. That was good enough for me and saved me another 1500 bucks. That money would be better spent on a turbo charger anyway.

yes a original yenko or however u spell it are Worth alot. But for one a yenko isn't a factory Chevy car it was limited numbers built buy Don Yenko a reputable tuner kinda like Carol Shelby or John Lingenfelter. So in no way is it like the scion with a different paint job and interior.

don't do it. The engineers hacked the idea of making it a option because it makes the car to top heavy.

doesnt make since to me then why would they make a roof rack? Wouldnt that make it top heavy too when loaded down with something? I would think they didnt put one cause they are trying to keep the cost down of the vehical.

I saw that too in my Scion Participantion Guide:
"Why are sunroofs unavailable?"
"The chief engineer concluded that sunroofs place too much weight too high in these vehicles."

that is too damn expensive. i got quoted $799.00 fo some luxury ____. the kind that slides in under the roof and in the headliner. you can program it to open/close when you turn on/off the car. this is the one i'm getting. really wanted the one like in the new maxima. this place doesn't offer it yet but said they could make one like it if i'm interested. may have to cop that yo. one
