Default Worthwhile Xenon Lights?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I don't feel like shelling out a chunk of cash for an HID kit w/ the transformer and all, but I would like some brighter lights at the same time. Would these lights be worth getting? I'm not expecting HID quality, but at the same time I feel that it would be a safe bet to think these might be brighter than the stock bulbs, and hold a nice Xenon look?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Can anyone check that out and let me know? Thanks!

I think the only way to know would be to get them. Personally, I don't trust hardly anything like this from eBay. Just not worth it. I'd rather pay the extra couple $$ and get a set of Silverstars. Certainly not "HID" or "Xenon", but they don't claim to be.

I just trust the Silverstars more than I trust an eBay auction.

Of course there are also Luminics bulbs that many people on SL love... but I've heard that a couple of their bulbs lack some brightness - good color, but not very bright. I've never had a set though, so I'm not sure.

Do you have a link to Silverstars? I've never heard of 'em.

Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated :D

I see from your sig, you have them installed... how are they in terms of a solid beam, and lighting up the road compared to the stockers? And also, I'd assume I'd need 9005 for the low's and 9006 for the hi's?

Thanks

I just like having a cleaner, whiter light - which certainly improves visibility. These bulbs do that very well. It's by no means the solid beam pattern that you'd get from a good set of projectors, but they're certainly an improvement over stock. But also worth noting is that I've seen much worse from some stock bulbs.

Like I said, there's also a lot of Luminics people out there too. Maybe the Drag Coefficient form would have some info.

Don't get the ebay bulbs. The bulbs will either blow out in a few months or melt your wiring harness. Just take a look at the ebay auction. They coat the bulbs to give a bluer looking light output, admittedly making them less bright (not to mention making them run hotter so they burn out quicker), and then they increase the wattage on the bulbs to make them brighter (making them run hotter still!)...doesn't make sense to me.

I have heard good things about the silverstars. They light output on those bulbs is not blue tho. Its still yellowish, but brighter than stock.

I had a pair of silverstars but I didn't like it. I bought a pair of Nokya 4300K 9006 from a Honda dealer for my tC and it looks great, it's been more than a year and still working fine. Now this will not look anything like HID but it has a white with blueish tint in it.

You can have brighter lights, or better looking blueish lights at the cost of reduced light output (or worse, melted wiring harnesses). Can't have both unless you spend solid cash getting hids.

If you want to run overwattage bulbs, you might try to find a company like hoen that produces upgraded wiring harnesses.

pacent, would you say I'd be safe w/ the lights wiggin and ack suggested? Either the Nokya's or the Silverstars from Silvia?

As long as they run at 55 watts, you should be okay.

It seems as though the regular lights run at 55, and the hi's run at 80... that seems normal to me, am I correct?

I got those set at the local Honda dealer for $20 bucks. Very good price indeed. They are running at 55W so it won't burn the harness, i know because I've had them for a year already. I had them on my civic first then I took it out and put it in my tC when my sister took the civic. They look A LOT whiter than the silverstars, I really like them.

Hmmm, that sounds like a good deal... did you get the Super White ones? or the Purple ones... The cheapest I can find is approx. $30 online...

Thanks!

JCLiP, are you referring to these?

Will these be at least as bright as stock?
