Reliable Scion presents:

http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/6601/smalls3logo8lu.jpgwww.s3event.com

On Sunday September 18th, 2005 at the Springfield Skate Project in Springfield MO, Reliable Scion is hosting an event of EPIC proportions!!! We are having a Skate Tournament/Scion only Car Show/Live DJ/Free Food and Drinks/Live Radio Remote from Q102/Scion Test Drives with premium prizes/whatever else I can come up with!!

Skating begins at 11 am and goes through 5pm. Trophies and prizes will be at 5 pm at the end of all the competition.

Scions can show up anytime but judging begins at 1 pm and goes until 5 pm. You must be present at 5 pm to receive any prize won.

Skate Tournament:

We are having a skate tournament with both and indoor and outdoor skate park. There is a huge place here in town for kids to skate at and we are bringing people in from all over the surrounding are for a tournament to rival anything we have ever seen in the Midwest skate scene! There will be three classes of skaters and prizes for each level. I am hoping to get scion boards printed up for this event for first place as well as over $1000 in prizes + tons of other free stuff!!! This skate tournament should be very exciting and have a ton of kids out here competing for a huge setup of prizes and the respect and recognition of everyone there. It will be an awesome thing to be there for! Check out their website at http://www.sk8springfield.com

Scion Only Car Show:

There is a Scion only car show in the parking lot of the skate park right by the admission entrance. Anyone with an xA, xB, or tC is welcome to participate but I warn you . . . you had better bring it. I am giving away over $1000 in prizes for the car show so I bet there will be some SICK rides there. There will be several categories for each level of owner. We will have the traditional dash plaques as well. If you own a Scion, you will be in competition for something. Everyone will have a chance to win some really great prizes. You will be amazed at what we are doing with this. I can't wait to see you all there!

Test Drives:

We will be having test drives in each Scion model ALL DAY LONG. I will be giving away some premium prizes (thinking a few iPod music players) for test-drives "raffle style". And before you ask . . . no you can't win a test drive prize if you ALREADY own a Scion. ;) Nice try people, but I have prizes for them too!

DJ Imperial/Q102

I am bringing a professional DJ (Just booked DJ Imperial) to play music for us all day long and am also having Q102 a local alternative rock station to come out and give away a ton of stuff while they are there. They will bring out the van and make even more music while we are there.

Cinema Scope

A local Springfield band will be playing also directly after the awards ceremony. They are called Cinema Scope and are a really great up and coming local band. Playing alot of shows right now, so I am lucky/glad to get them! This show is gonna rock! Check them out at http://cinemascope-music.com/

Halo Tournament

Just got these guys www.gamecorps.net to set up shop and run a Halo Tournament at the event as well. I think there will be a small charge to register but that would be as a donation to the Skate Park. I will get more info, but as it sits, they think we shou7ld be able to do smoe 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 action. Millen, this one is for you!

There will be food and drinks available, I got music covered, I got an awesome skate event, PRIZES beyond belief (might need some help carrying them all out there), a Scion only car show, stuff to do all day long . . . you can't miss this event! I am giving away several thousand dollars worth of prizes, cash, gear, food, and everything else. There will be a ton of people here so come out and have a great time, eat some food, win some awesome stuff, and REPRESENT your pride on the grill!!! See you there!

Check out the website. It can get you more info too!

what do you all think about having the skate and scion prizes at different times so people from out of town on the car show can leave earlier if the HAVE to? I wanted everyone to stick around for the skate show, the evening( 4-8 ) will be all the cool skating, but I don't want people to not come because they can't stay until 8pm . . . what do you think?

stl_tc_king
07-27-2005, 07:08 PM
i agree that you should give the prizes earlier.

Myself and some of the other stlscion members will be attending.

Is there an entry fee, and is this show exclusively for Scions or can other makes enter?

shorberg
07-27-2005, 07:22 PM
Scion only show, no entry fee for cars, but there is a fee for skaters. all proceeds go to the Springfield Skate project to help them pay for the new construction of the outdoor street/pool park.

And we would be glad to have you all around!

No but in all fairness its for you to decide...But i will be there

Help me brainstorm so other cool "categories" for prizes in the car show. i have been coming up with some stuff. add to it and we'll pick out the best ones and make them part of the event!

1. oldest scion owner(age, not when you bought it)
2. best scion owned by a female
3. longest drive
4. best performance mods
5. best interior
6. cleanest scion
7. best xA, xB, tC
8. first arrival for the day
9. best wheel & tire overall package
10. best of show
11. most unique
12. best OEM scion (ie only factory parts)
13. most mods
14. best mod
15. lowest odometer/newest owner
16. most represented club

you get the idea. think up some other categories and we'll pick through them to make up the whole contest! have fun!

Also, what do you all think of a Massuese . . . how do you spell that anyway? I am going to have some one there to rub out all of your road rage and into the nice people you are! She'll take tips I think, but don't think she is charging anyone. Just doing it for promo. I 'll find out next week if she can do it!

They are going to be there. Check the edit on the first post.

I went and saw them at "Drink" tonight. There weren't any people there really, like 15 maybe, b/c they had no advance warning, and were the second band in an all night show, but they were GREAT! I think you all will love them. We will start the band right after the awards, so like 5:30 ish . . . Should be a great time!

I've never met anybody from that club and would really like to. Also, anybody from SE Chicago/Great Lakes coming down? Long way, but not unheard of. Also also, somebody should put the word out to Jon and the Scikotics. They might be tempted to make the drive.

Just a few suggestions. Scinergy has lots of members in the Midwest, but there's others out here too with the same amount of love for their Scions.

I just received the email from SCION as well. For those of us who are not seasoned with these events, how much abuse can I expect my little box to take from strangers at this event? Do you leave it open or can you lock it? Is the norm for you to stay with your car or mill around? Is the trust level high enough that my xb will be alright out in the cold cruel world without getting beer spilled all over the inside or outside?

Fredy

The unwritten rule with all car shows is "LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH". However, I have found that some people can't read unwritten rules. I've always left my car open at all shows (to receive maximum points, usually, if a judge can't see an area, you get zero points for that area). I've also kept near my vehicle or had someone I trust (another club member, etc.) near my vehicle at all times. That's the best way to go. When awards start and everyone clears from around the car, LOCK 'ER UP!

Hope that's helpful.

mine is always locked unless I'm with it. After seeing people paw all over Alex's box at First Friday, that'll continue to be the case at most shows.

trust is pretty high, but like first friday, there will be a significant representation of the "public" aka, people who don't have the rulebook of car shows.

one of the categories is going to be people's choice I think, so showing off your car to people and getting in bed with them might be the way to win that category . . .

www.s3event.com seems to work ok and I even heard the commercial on Q102 yesterday for the event.

I'm working out a deal to have a laptop at the show so I can dump my camera as necessary. I need to call my buddy and get his inverter as well, in case I have to recharge the camera.

What kind of cameras does everyone have? If they are Sony w/ Memory Stick, I can dump the cards, if not bring your cables and I can dump yours if you want.

I want to get a copy of everyones' pictures anyway... they will come in handy for the OZ site. I'll keep all the pictures separated and I can zip and send or burn to CD and mail to the owner, whichever is easier.

The s3 was awesome. At least 50 scion's were there, and with the early day rain, we got some great practice drying our cars! I dried 3 times and went through 6 towels, but luckily someone loaned me a squeege; that thing was pretty cool. Anyway, I had a great time and hope to see everyone again soon. Congrats Darren on BOS!

Yeah, Darren won bos, dude from stl won best tc, can't remember his name. It was the black sand pearl one with the stripes on the side. I thought the guy from Arkansas with the kamanari ground effects should have won something. But there were lots of great cars......

First off I would like to thank Scinergy OZ, Scinergy KC, STL Scions, and Alex Millen from Scinergy IA for breakin' some nexks today. Oh, sorry...yesterday. The turnout was far beyond what either shorberg or I had imagined. KC and STL rock...and so does Alex. I just can't get over what a great day this was (despite the rain and loss of power).

We owe a great deal of thanks to Reliable Scion and their staff, all the owners clubs, Springfield Skate Park and staff, DJ Imperial, Q102.1, GameCorps.net, Life Essentials, Papa John's, Coke, the great skaters, Cinamascope, and anyone who had anything to do with this event. Thanks to all for thier hard work. I had an awesome time and hope ya'll did as well.

So...here are the results of the car show.
Best of Show - Darron Cathcart - Scinergy OZ
Best xA - Scott Elam - Scinergy OZ
Best xB - Brooks (blackwidow2) - Scinergy KC
Best tC - Eric Siers - STL Scions
So Fresh and So Clean - Mark Gullett - Scinergy OZ
Should Have Flown Award - Alex Millen - Scinergy IA
The Fujiz Best Engine Bay - Alex Millen - Scinergy IA
Best Female Owned Scion - Jennifer Fender
Peoples' Choice Award - Bob (to late for last names, sorry) - Scinergy KC

Thanks again to all that made the trip and hope ya'll made it home safe.

Peace,

There are some real nice scions in the midwest. I would like to thank the organizers, staff, and sponsors of this event. Hope to do it again sometime. Here are some pics for those interested-

Great pics Matt! It was really good to finally meet you and all the STL folks. I hope to see you many times next summer.

I'll put all my thanks in the other thread.

I don't know how many times I dried my car, but synthetic chamois and water blades are the way to go. Also good to remember is to NEVER stop drying your car! I think the judges came back to look at Brooks' ride 15-20 times (LITERALLY). Also also, I learned that I need to leave the windows up and the hood down until the judges come by. That was a real PITA too!

Pics will be in the other thread too.
